Re: Vanilla extract?
I'm not in the US...
If I recall correctly, I think I've read that you can find SF vanilla extract at Trader Joe's. I'm sure members in the US can help you."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Vanilla extract?
I have found that the Big Name Brands have sugar, while the cheaper generics do not.
Another option, of course long term since it will take about 4-6 months is to make your own. I took a bottle of "Cheap" vodka, took out a couple of ounces and added 5-6 vanilla beans (bought online). Let it steep a few month and my oh my. Good stuff. And keeps getting better.MAY 2010 Challenges

Re: Vanilla extract?
Gosh that sounds good, Kntrylady
However it does remind me that as the extract Angie mentioned did contain alcohol it might be better left till OWL rung 5 rather than used on induction. I am not sure if there are any vanilla extracts made without alcohol as well as without sugar?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Vanilla extract?
Vanilla extract was considered a "condiment" by Dr. Atkins (see for e.g. Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution) and is allowed during all phases of Atkins.Originally posted by Elizellen View Postthe extract Angie mentioned did contain alcohol it might be better left till OWL rung 5 rather than used on induction.
No, vanilla extracts are made with alcohol.I am not sure if there are any vanilla extracts made without alcohol as well as without sugar?
There are however non-alcoholic vanilla flavorings. The ones I've seen (online, because on the ones I find in stores there are no ingredients listed) are made using a glycerin solution (glycerin+water).
In any case, vanilla extract is fine for Induction as long as it has no sugar added (some have corn syrup, which is still sugar)... and one doesn't drink a glass of it.
