    Hey!!!

    I started atkins a few months ago and done really well but the only thing putting me off was not having fruit or caffine and i ended up giving in. Is there anyone like this, do u have any tips to substitute??thanks


    First Mini Goal: Loose 10lbs = 11st12lbs
    Second Mini Goal: Loose 12lbs = 11st0lbs
    Third Mini Goal: Loose 10lbs = 10st 4lbs
    Fourth Mini Goal: Loose 10lbs = 9st 8lbs

    If you have been on Atkins "several months" you should move to OWL (ongoing weight loss) - once you get to Rung 3 you can add berries back to your food list.

    As far as caffeine, do you mean coffee, soda or what? I drink 2 cups of decaf coffee daily and once in a great while I have a 1/2 diet soda (that's all I can drink before I can't stand the taste).

      yes coffee i mean. I hate drinking def - caf and i hate full aft cream. yuk. But i was hoping of sumthing similar to drink. Cos last time i was on atkins i gave in by the 6th day only because off the coffee and fruit.

        I'm sure Carole meant OWL Rung 4 for berries.

        Laura, you haven't been doing Atkins for months, right? You started a few months ago and then stopped. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

        do u have any tips to substitute??
        Avocado is a fruit and allowed even during Induction (1/2 a small one per day). It does NOT count as a veggie though! (being a fruit...)

        And you do know that there are two fruit rungs in OWL, right?

          Then don't add cream to it.

          If regular coffee is triggering cravings for you, then I'd suggest you don't drink it. But if you're fine with 1-2 cups per day and don't "need" more than 3, then give coffee a try. If you stall, you know caffeine can be a possible cause. Not all people are stalled by caffeine though.

            yes u are right i stopped for months, only done it for a few days.

            yes i have read book and i know fruit is introduced. Its just hard first 2 weeks without any fruit. I could manage drinking 2 cups of coffee a day, but id have to have light cream right? xx

              Yes. But not creamer, nor milk.

                  I was a hardcore caffeine addict. I would drink multiple Dr Peppers and bug cups of coffee every day. It got so bad that I was actually getting pains in my stomach and my Dr told me they wouldn't go away unless I quit caffeine.

                  All of the articles I read online said it would take 3 or 4 days of dealing with symptoms (like headaches and problems sleeping) and then everything would be cool. It took me close to a month of dealing with those symptoms.....but now I feel so very much better not putting even the slightest bit of caffeine in my body. I have been this way for a year now and I actually sleep soundly at night.....something that never happened before. I never had any idea how serious a drug caffeine really is but we are all better off without it.
