  • Day 1 for me!

Hi all, I am new here i have about 35lbs to lose starting at 181 lbs. I did
" atkins" about 5 years ago and lost 14llbs in induction , tho i ate little or no veggies, So here I am again and i really want to do it properly this time, so how does this menu look,

Breakfast: two eggs friend in olive oil with 1 oz cheddar.

Lunch : small tin tuna in water, tablespoon no sugar mayo, 1 cup iceberg lettuce, half tomato, 2 0z bell peppers,

Dinner: chicken breast, 2oz meleted cheddar, Ioz cauliflower, small carton of cream.

    any thoughts?

    Welcome!

There seem to be very few veggies in your menu. How many net carbs from vegetables are there?

How much cream is in one "small carton"?

well ...... I really need to look into the net carb thing. i was just going by the three cups of veggies allowed and my lunch seemed to be one and a half cups. i will add another cup of salad to dinner. the cream is about 3 oz.

It's simply total carbs minus dietary fiber. You can look up foods in the USDA database and/or track them in FitDay.

Well, 3 cups is certainly "safe"... meaning that you are eating no more than 20 net carbs... but there is no reason to undereat your veggie net carbs, in my opinion.

And 1 oz of cauliflower is... almost invisible!

the cream is about 3 oz.
Do you drink this or what do you do with 3 oz of cream?

As a beverage, cream is limited to 3 tbs. Too much diary (and you're already eating 3 oz of cheese) stalls weight loss for some people. And I believe there are better (more nutritionally sound) uses for those 2.5 carbs and 300 calories you find in 3 oz of heavy cream.

Thanks for the links i will use these, Well the cream was to pump up my fat intake, I was just gonna whip it up and maybe sprinkle some cinamon on top, I had bought some broccoli to have too but it has gone off !! I am also gonna have a diet coke, no coke zero in mumbai, well not that i have seen. I could drink it last time with no effect on weight loss, but i know it can possibly stall. Maybe i will forgo the cream today bearing in mind the cheese and see how i go!

You can add some butter on vegetables. Or use a dip or dressing. Or eat some eggs... or avocado... or olives.

Do you just like Coke Zero more or do you think it would have been a better option? Just curious about this one. For me, they are both the same. And, as you might have guessed, I wouldn't recommend either.

i know it can possibly stall.
Yep. Plus, if you have a sweet tooth, it won't help you kill it.

Also keep in mind that sweeteners are limited to 3 per day. One serving of diet soda is one serving of sweetener.

If you're only looking for a different taste, water with a slice of lemon in it would be a better choice.

butter on veggies! hadn't thought of that Doh! I thought I read somewhere that coke zero didn't have the dreaded aspartame? Thanks for the info, it's a minefield when your first starting out!

Hmm... I'm not sure how it's in the US or in India. I'm in Germany, and here Coke Zero is sweetened with aspartame.

Some people are fine with aspartame... others are stalled by it. Same holds for other sweeteners though. One can be stalled by Splenda or saccharin, even though these were "allowed" by Dr. Atkins.

                You're welcome for the help!
