  • Mayo on Induction

I don't see mayo on the list of acceptable foods, but I see it in menus and recipes? Please advise and thank you for being here!!

Mayo is fine on induction if it's made right. Really you only need oil and eggs. Problem is the store bought stuff often has sugar, so take alook at the ingredients.

      Mayo is fine during Induction.

It has carbs... don't forget to count them.

        Re: Mayo on Induction

The thing with the list of foods acceptable for induction is that everything made from those ingredients is legal. Mayo is basically made from eggs & oil - both eggs & oil are on the list The reverse is also true of course, the ingredients in anything "prepared" that you eat should be on the list.

Good for you for asking! That is what makes these boards so great!

Mayonnaise is mentioned in the Rules of Induction in Chapter 11 of your book.

If the carbohydrates per serving are below 0.5 g, they can be reported as zero on the label. Mayo is made of eggs, so it must have carbs.

According to FitDay, 1 tbsp of regular mayonnaise has 0.54 net carbs.

I am doing this diet ALL wrong - I get so frustrated by the food! I'm not sure WHY I keep doing the wrong thing... I'm not a dumb person (so I think anyway)

Just because you didn't know that mayo has carbs it does not mean you are doing things "ALL wrong".

I'd suggest you create a new thread where you post your complete menu, with quantities and net carbs for all foods. Then we take a look.

I guess its just when I think I am doing it right - I find out that mayo is not a food I can eat unlimited AND I did bad over the Thanksgiving break.... I guess I am just disappointed in myself.... that's all

                        thanks for asking!!!

It is a learning process, very few people get it 100% right, especially at first. Just learn from your mistakes & move on The nice thing is that we have these boards to turn to for information and advice...I can't imagine having done this before the internet age...I'm sure I would really have screwed it up

                            How much were you eating?

                            How are you defining "unlimited"?
