Howdy folks. This is around my 5th day on Atkins. I am drinking more than 100 oz of water daily, but not the 200 oz recommended for my weight. (I am over 400 lbs) I haven't cheated. Here is my question. Tonight I tested my urine with a keton strip. The result showed a color that was slightly darker than the small or 15 mg and somewhat lighter than the moderate 40 mg. Is that normal? Or have I made a mistake somewhere??? I should note that I take medication called Geodon which I have heard makes weight loss difficult. Not sure if that would affect the ketosis or not??

Re: Ketone strip test results
Hi Razorback
It looks as if you are into ketosis already if you get any change in colour, so well done
And congratulations on sticking to plan so well too
As for water, as long as you are getting more than the recommended 8 x 8 fluid ounces (which you are doing excellently) you should be fine. I know some people recommend drinking the same number of fluid ounces as half your body weight in pounds, but that is just their opinion, not a rule of Dr Atkins.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Ketone strip test results
Ketosticks are not reliable. You can be in ketosis without changing the color. And as Elizellen already pointed out, any color change is a confirmation of ketosis. However, the color does not guarantee weight loss, nor is an indicator of your weight loss rate.Originally posted by The Razorback fan View PostTonight I tested my urine with a keton strip. It's impossible to say based on the color of the sticks. But if you want to post a complete menu, including quantities and net carbs, we can definitely give you some feedback.have I made a mistake somewhere???"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
