  • I am confused a little...

Hi all! I am so confused about the onion in Induction!! I have saw a lot of people in Induction tell what they were eating and if onion was involved, it was green onions, not yellow.
I looked in my book and it just says "onion", I am confused! Also in the back of the book (page 378 in the paper back) it has Instead of Yellow Onions-Substitute Green onions (scallions) or leeks.
Do I need to eat green onions on my salad or yellow?
    Thanks in advance!

    -Christie

I love onion so on induction I ate green onions - a lot fewer carbs. But you can have yellow onion if you like just watch the quantities.

Ahh okay. Yeah I see now that Green Onions have less carbs, I'll eat those then. Thanks so much!

AS Liv suggested, 'green onions' (spring onions in UK) have less carbs per cup than ordinary onions so many people use them in preference on induction so as not to overdo their carbs.
        According to fitday.com
1 cup of sliced raw mature onions has 8.7 net carbs
1 cup of chopped raw green onions has 4.7 net carbs

However if your other 2 cups are usually something like lettuce then using ordinary onions as your cup of 'other veg' is a good way to up your carbs so you are eating 'most' of your up to 20 net carbs from your veggies.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
