Re: Protein bars???
I tried over the summer, when I went cold turkey- and I ended up having one REALLY bad night a couple weeks in, and it just got worse from there.
So I'm trying this "weening" thing now... I know it's mostly will power tho, so my goal is to have no protein bars/atkins stuff/sugar-free chocolate this weekend. We'll see how strong I can be.
As a side note: I just reread my note to Georgianna from early and realized I sounded REALLY rude- so I sincerely apologize G. I'm not sure what was up with my mood earlier, but I'll try not to snap like that again at anyone, I know your's and everyone else's advice is given with the best of intentions. My bad (to the extreme)...

In my experience, it's more about making a decision.
When I started Atkins, I realized that I simply wasn't going to be able to have the chocolate filled life I had been living up until then.
I also DECIDED that I wasn't going to try to find all the low-carb "substitutes" and "treats" that were/are available ... that I was going to CHANGE.
And believe it or not ... that's what happened.
And I also learned 3 very powerful words, "No, thank you."J.
"Your life will never change until you change your choices."

I believe it. I guess I'm striving to ditch my sweet tooth for good- it'll be best for me in the long run...Originally posted by atkinsgal08 View PostAnd believe it or not ... that's what happened.

Haha, I love your 'powerful' words- I think that might be my new mantra.

Re: Protein bars???
Hi Caity,
Like YOU, I really love Chocolate. Personally, I have no intention of eliminating it from my life completely.
I think it is just going to have to be a "wait and see" for you. I personally, only consume about 1/2 of bars similar in nutrition to the one you described. At that amount, it did not negatively affect my weight loss, but each person of course is different.
OUt of curiosity, what BRAND do you find most satifies your cravings?
Cheers,
Danielle

Re: Protein bars???
No one ever said "completely". But eliminating it right now would be the better and logical choice. And when/if you add it back, do you think that you'll be able to keep the addiction at bay? Can an alcoholic get "sober" and then introduce a glass of wine once in a while?Originally posted by daniwcca View PostHi Caity,

My only point was everyone has a path that "works" for them.Originally posted by The One View PostNo one ever said "completely". But eliminating it right now would be the better and logical choice. I know what "works" for me. Chocolate, for me, isn't the problem.
It is that one potato, that one pasta, that one grilled panini.
So for ME, I am not giving up chocolate.
When you use the "alcoholic" analogy, in regards to a specific food, like you did with protein bar (or chocolate) , it does imply that one should never have a taste ever. That is the philosophy for an alcoholic.
I was merely answering the question as Caity asked it, not seeking advice.
Cheers!
