    Re: Help Aspartame weight-gain

    Dreamcometrue,
You're right about the veggies. I will take some psyllium husk capsules today and eat more veggies. That helped when I first started. But I don't like taking the pills because they have some carbs

      >> It was a claussen kosher dill pickle.>>

One pickle shouldn't have 5 carbs. Fitday has 1 large dill pickle at 2 net carbs.

This isn't 7 years ago ... maybe your responses are different.

      >>I don't like taking the pills because they have some carbs>>

Are you remembering to subtract the fiber to get net carbs?

And you're going to drink more WATER, right?

        -pickle (5 carbs)
Are you sure you read the label correctly and those 5 are carbs, not calories? It sounds like calories to me.

Lunch/Dinner---about 5 or 6 big chicken wings, fried and 2 packets crystal light
Other than ditching the CL from here, it's a good idea to add some vegetables. Spreading your net carbs throughout the day is best... and over half of your daily net carbs should come from vegetables.

          Georgiana,
You're right about the pickles, they have <1g carbs and 5 calories per spear. I will incorporate more veggies as you said, spread of course. Is it okay to have 1 to 2 packets of splenda during the day, on occasion? I bought some green tea today and it's 40mg caff. per serving and I know doctor Atkins advises against this caff but is it because it actually stalls weight loss or is it that it may trigger cravings due to drop in blood sugar. Please read the following (this why I am confused a bit:

Atkins FAQ - Caffeine, Decaf Coffee, Green Tea and Atkins Diet

Are caffeine beverages allowed on Atkins Induction Phase?

Avoid caffeine beverages during Atkins Diet Induction Phase. Caffeine addiction as a result of excessive caffeine beverages causes drop in blood sugar leading to increase craving for sweets.
What are the benefit of green tea on weight loss?

Drinking green tea about half an hour before meal time helps in your weight loss efforts as green tea helps suppress your appetite, make you less likely to overeat and has potent fat burning properties.

          THEN
"Atkins recommends drinking lot of fluids – at least 64 ounces of water a day. He also suggests drinking green tea about half an hour before meal time to help your weight loss efforts as green tea helps suppress your appetite, make you less likely to overeat and has potent fat burning properties."

You should use the book as your authority. Not some random webpage. Lots of misinformation on the net.
Atkins writes about coffee in the footnote on pg 127 in my book. This is chapter 10 right after the induction allowed list. He says it may lead to unstable bloodsugar and should be avoided.
Also if (and when ) you read the book you will see that splenda is allowed. Limited to three servings a day. But any sweetener may stall you so be careful with it.
Good luck on your journey. Keep asking questions. We are here to help

By the way that website that says Atkins recommends green tea is certainly not supported by the book. Atkins says this about tea:

Avoid coffee, tea and soft drinks that contain caffeine. Excessive caffeine has been shown to cause low blood sugar, which can make you crave sugar.
He does recommend drinking some hot broth.

I drink some decaffenated green tea some days. With some coconut oil in it. On me caffeine has exactly that effect - it makes me crave sugar and food. It makes me hungry.
