    Re: Diet Cherry Coke

    Allowed?

    Yes.

    Is it the best choice?

    No.

You're allowed 3 sweeteners per day, and a can of soda is about 1 1/2.

It's also not water ... and diet soda's not going to help you lose your desire for sweet nor will it help you lose weight.

Yes, as Dr. Atkins writes in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) [you're reading it, right?], not having caffeine on Induction is a good thing.

Not everyone does give it up, though.

      Hi natp18!
Watch out for aspartame, Dr. Atkins does not recommend it...only Splenda. I used to be addicted to Diet Coke and quit drinking it when I started Atkins. However, I did drink 2 Diet Rites the other day (they are 0 caffeine, 0 carbs, and are made with Splenda) but I will not be having anymore because they make me crave sweets a little, but that is just me. And I just don't know exactly how many "packets" I am getting per can so I want to be on the safe side and not have any!
Also, make sure that you are still getting in your water intake..Dr. Atkins says the only thing that counts as water is water, nothing else like sodas, kool aids, etc.
I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss and other goals you may have!

Its best to avouid it as it can stall you and you should see a better loss drinking water.
