  • 5th day (great so far)

    Hello everyone!

This is my 5th day into induction and I do feel great but.... I did something I was not suppose to do today. I was hanging out with some friends shooting pool and just having the usual fun. I started to get hungry and my friends were eating some food that I shouldn't eat but then... I ordered mozzerella sticks and gatorade :sadblinky .

Other then that I drank alot of water the last 4 days, exercised 20 minutes (spread out) each day, and ate low carb stuff that are allowed and I checked the wallet size note. I lost a total of 5 pounds so far and I feel great but a little light headed.

My menu is a bit small with no cooking required (I can't really cook). I was wondering if someone can give me some easy to cook food recipes that are delicious. I do not like spinach, carrots, tomatoes, and mushrooms.

    My menu
Morning - 2 eggs (cooked) w/ atkins advantage bar (as a snack)

Afternoon - Caesar Salad w/ grilled chicken (2 cups of veggies).

Night - Chicken noodle soup (low carb with high fat) or eggs again :/.

I need a better menu I think, so if anyone can share a few of their easy to cook food.. it would be great.

Hi kdkaos! This is my fifth day also. There is lots of easy things to cook on this diet. I have hamburger patties, shrimp scampi, grilled meats, baked chicken, and all veggies are pretty simple to make. I always have alot left over and I save them for lunch the next day or two.

As for your menu, you are not supposed to eat chicken noodle soup and the atkins bars are a no no. :nono

I wish you the best of luck on this diet! :hug

Then what are atkins bars for? I read that they are good for induction on atkinscenter.com. Also I have looked at this website (http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/recipes.html) but All the foods that are induction friendly are hard to make... :/. I'm 18 years old male and I never really cooked anything so its hard and I don't know if anyone here is young as me but its pretty tough. I need food that are good and easy to cook. Can anyone share some recipes please? or give me a better link please.

Here is a couple of easy ones.

Chicken...Take a boneless breast or two and grill in a frying pan until done. Cover the cooked chicken with sauteed' peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Then melt a piece of cheese of your choice on top. I use mozerella.

Buy a pack of hambuger patties and fry those and put between two pieces of lettuce with mayo and tomato.

Shrimp scampi easy way...melt a stick of butter and add a spoonful of garlic, mix well. Add a few frozen salad shrimp.

Veggies are pretty easy. Open the can, drain, season and heat or make yourself a big salad.

Is grilled steak w/ lettuce ok? I just had some and I'm sure that I saw it somewhere. Also I'll try the boneless chicken breast recipe.

Here's a really easy one that I love to cook often:
Take a Hilshire Farm Low Cal Polish Sausage or Smoked Sausage (the one that says 0g Carbs on the label). Slice it up.
Chop up half onions and whole green pepper.
Put vegetables in frying pan with some olive oil.
Cook until tender and then throw in the sausage.
Cover for 3-5 minutes. Season with Montreal or Canadian Steak seasoning.

For a kick throw some hot pepper sauce in the frying pan as well with some Durkee's 6 Pepper spice.

Good Eats and correct carb/protein/fat ratios...

BTW Grilled steak is fine with lettuce (as long as the dressing was 1-2g or less)

the bars and other low carb products often cause stalls and cravings. We follow the 2002 DNDR so make sure to pick up a copy. Convenience foods like the bars are only supposed to be used in emergency sort of situations.

For snacks I make hardboiled eggs, turkey cream cheese roll ups, microwaved cheese crisps, veggies dipped in ranch dressing. Grill or bake a tray of chicken and use it thru the week in salads or stir frys or with a side of sauteed spinach. There are a ton of great recipes in the recipe section at the top so browse thru it and ask questions if you get stuck on something.

Grill or pan fry extra chicken breasts.
                - Buffalo chicken - top your chicken breast with a mixture of heated tobasco and butter then a tablespoon of blue cheese dressing. YUM!
                - Top your chicken with a a slice of pepper jack cheese and a green chili sauce. (I use Hatch's juevos rancheros sauce, 3 carbs per 1/4C) and heat in oven until bubbly. Top with an over easy egg. YUMMY!

Steak - top or stuff with crumbled blue cheese

Chop acceptable veggies up and keep in plastic bags in fridge.

Make sure you have hard boiled eggs handy. for egg salad, deviled eggs, or just to snack on.

Do you like smoked salmon? Makes an easy snack or dinner

Crab or tuna salad - just mix with mayo, chopped celery and spices.

Any fish - place in foil with some seasonings and a squeez of lemon juice. Bake until flacky OR just broil it in oven with butter and seasonings.
