hello im new to this board i have done atkins before 2 years ago i lost 28lb in five weeks then i fell off the wagon and put it all back on .
I have been on atkins now for 6 days and feel great.
This time round i am not weighing myself as i often get fed up if i dont see a loss so im doing it with my clothes instead.

Isabeau is totally right: you don't need any 'low carb' labelled products to do this diet as Dr. Atkins intended it to be done...just good real fresh foods, so you are spot on with your plan! :yes
Just remember to mix it all up and have variety in your meals so you don't get bored. There are lots of ideas in the cooking forums and the recipe tab here, so have a look around.

Also take a moment and read the 'sticky's that are in the forums you go to...chock full of good info.

      All the best to you!

          Welcome back to Atkins WOL.

I am so glad you decided to join us.

Don't get discouraged if the scale doesn't move as quickly as you would like. We all wish we could wake up at goal, but our bodies have to adjust. Be sure and measure yourself. Sometimes the scale won't budge, but you will see a loss of inches.

Just don't get discouraged. It just takes time and everyone of different.

Don't feel bad about not having the prepackaged frankenfoods. I don't ever eat them. I make everything from scratch. I eat just simple unprocessed foods.

            Hi Maysea

I'm new on this forum too. I started Atkins this morning - I last did it a couple of years ago when I was trying to fit into my wedding outfit, it all went well then a little one came along and I'm a stone and a half heavier again. I've decided this time round to find a support forum, I'm usually pretty good at sticking to Atkins for a couple of months, but then the weight loss seems to stop and I get fed up of eating meat all of the time, and start craving for a bowl of pasta!

Like you I'm in the UK and there's not much Atkins branded stuff around, and I don't think any major retailer puts net carbs on their produce yet (although I've heard Tescos are going to be bringing this in on some lines). There are also a couple of websites I've used that have a pretty good range of Atkins products, one's http://www.lowcarbguys.co.uk - they're based in Swansea, have super fast delivery and the prices of the normal Atkins bars are cheaper than in the shops, plus they have a whole load of different flavours not available on the high street.

Anyways, good luck with the weight loss, and here's to being able to wear shorts on the beach this Summer!

Gosh - 2 more Brits joined our ha family
Welcome Maysea :wave and monkhey :wave

I still don't include any 'lowcarb' foods apart from the naturally lowcarb items on the acceptable foods list into my Atkins after more than a year and a half of lowcarb living - so don't feel too deprived if you can't find them :hug

Many of us 'non-USA' Atkineers are quite relieved the products are not too readily available and are ridiculously expensive too - 99p for a 2-finger lc kitkat - they have got to be joking!!!

It is so much easier to withstand the siren song of the sugar monster if you don't feed it even with 'sugarfree' sweet stuff!!

If you can manage a 'clean' induction without using the sugar alcohol sweetened 'frankenfoods' you will probably be amazed at how little they tempt you after a couple of weeks.

BTW there are a couple of interesting threads about the pro and cons of using SA's in the FAQ forum here

which might help you make an educated decision about their use.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

                  Hi Maysea! :wave

                  Welcome aboard!

As others have said you're much better off without those low carb alternative foods, they're nothing but trouble. After all they didn't learn the nick name "Frankenfoods" for nothing!

Just looking around this Board I'm sure you've seen some stunning, jaw dropping examples of how effective Atkins can be. Many people here have lost 25...50..100..200 pounds and absolutely reinvented themselves - all you need is commitment, determination and you'll succeed.

Make sure you have the most recent copy of "Dr Atkins New Diet revolution" known around here as DANDR it's critical that you have the book.

Read it and use it as your guide and reference. Remember without it failure is inevitable.

Avoid as many pitfalls from the get go as you can. Print out the list of acceptable foods on Induction, stock up on all the wonderful foods that are allowed during Induction - and you'll be well on your way to success.

You'll find warm, non judgmental support here, 24/7 365 days a year by people who believe in Atkins, themselves and - you.

                  Welcome!

                  Peter ha
