We don't have them in Germany either and I never had a problem with that. You DO NOT need bars to do Atkins!

    salads
I'm sure you can find vegetables.

    carrot batons
Carrots are not an Induction food anyway. They come in OWL Rung 8 only.

if im doing Atkins diet il have to prepare the stuff my self
Ummm... yeah... that's what I do, too. It's normal to prepare your own food, you know!

someone said to me "" if u prepare ur food...ul just think of food"
& " its impossible for u to stick to it"
    Rubbish!

    do u think i cannot survive >?
Yes. Cooking won't kill you. Be careful when working with knives and fire, though!

    cottage cheese
Not appropriate for Induction. You can add it in OWL Rung 2.

    cheese(cheese slices)
If it's processed cheese, it's not the best choice.

    >meat
    >poultry
    >snow peas
    >cucumber
    >peppers
    >tomatoes
    >egg plants
    >spinach
    >eggs
    >mushroom
    These are fine.

this is all i recall that is easily abvailable here.
Make sure you are familiar with the Acceptable Foods List: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html

If a food is not on the list, it's not appropriate for Induction.

plz rtell me truly if i can really do it ??
No one can tell you that. It only depends on you whether you can make Atkins your new way of eating.

I prepare all of my own food. Don't use Atkins bars or shakes. I mostly buy fresh meat and veggies & real cheese.

Distracted or hungry? You can eat (an egg sounds fine) as long as you are hungry. Don't eat if you aren't hungry - do something else...go for a walk or drink a glass of water.

                Re: Reaction to discouragement ?

                Hi!
I also prepare all of my meals at home from fresh veggies, meats, eggs and real cheese. I have also found that sometimes if I am feeling more hungrier than usual, then I boil up a hard boiled egg to go with my daily salad at lunch and that usually keeps me fuller for longer.
I do not eat the Atkins bars either, they are not induction friendly at all. (Peanuts and such isn't allowed on Induction, even though the box says all 4 phases)
Just make sure that you don't get bored of what your eating, since you don't have that big of a selection to choose from. Linda's site has some good eats if you wanna check it out:
Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home

Also, about the Atkins bars, I have actually heard that they cause stalls, so I wouldn't recommend them anyways.

And, for me, I believe anyone can do this, it just takes time and effort. Just never give up (and follow the rules of the book ), I'm sure you will see results!

                Good Luck!

                -Christie

                    Re: Reaction to discouragement ?

                    Welcome!

Unfortunately the person who said you'd think of food all the time if you made your own wasn't helpful. Just about every person here cooks for themselves - maybe the first few days until you get use to the foods you'll think of food more than normal, but other than that it's easy - no different that going to a restaurant and ordering food for each meal.

If you plan your meals a few days in advance you'll have the foods you need on hand and will do much better on the plan. Check the list of acceptable food so you are eating only the foods allowed until you get to OWL (ongoing weight loss) and start adding foods back in the proper order.

http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin daily. Look at the challenges to see if there is anything that interests you - start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!!

                    Good luck to you!

                      Re: Reaction to discouragement ?

I think that those of you who are not exposed to the frankenfoods like Atkins bars and shakes and other processed "low carb" foods, are actually lucky. Less confusion as you pursue this new way of eating that has proven successful for many.

Make a copy of the Acceptable Food List for Induction and the Rules of Induction, carry them with you and check the list before you make any decisions on what to eat until it is all second nature to you.

Best wishes. You can do it!!! No question. All you have to do is want to do it badly enough.

                        Re: Reaction to discouragement ?

Can u check the amount of carbs in your 'cottage cheese'?

Cottage cheese in the US has a relatively high carb count and is not used during induction, but altho i do not live in India, i live outside of the US and here we have 9% 'cottage cheese' which has 1.2 gm of carbs per 100 gm and i use it instead of cream cheese (our local cream ch has 2.0 carbs/100gm - similar to US cream cheese which is allowed on induction).

So if u can, check the carb count on the cottage cheese, if it below 2gm/100gm of cheese, in my opinion, you can probably have it >>> but no more than about 100gm/day. i use it mostly in baking in recipes calling for cream cheese.

i've never tasted an Atkins bar and don't plan to, they don't even sell them here. The vegetables in India are probably very fresh and flavorful and u can use local seasonings if u like but include them when you tally your carbs - eg. 1 tsp of curry has 0.5 carbs.

Good Luck! You can do this!!!

As Irishirish said, in a way you are likely to be MORE successful if you don't have those special 'lowcarb' products around.

Oh - and in UK 'zucchini' is called 'courgettes'.

For the other veggies that you don't recognise from the US names, try doing a google images search. You might find that they are available in your country under a different name.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
