  • Nausea and vomiting

Hi! Today is day two of induction and I'm feeling horrible. I felt ok when I woke up this a.m. but about noon I felt nauseated and have vomited about 4 times so far. I did Atkins about 4 years ago and this didn't happen, though this time I have followed it to the T. I read in DANDR that this is our bodies way of going thru withdrawals from our crappy way of eating. How long does this last? I'm going to get through it and succeed!

Well, I've heard of and experienced the induction flu, but this sounds more like a virus. The throwing up is a little extreme. If it were me, I would get to the doctor.

IMO: I've never heard of actual vomiting from atkins..even in induction. That sounds like a flu and I am sure when you are first starting atkins and your body is detoxing that you can become more likely to 'catch' something during that time. I did once but it was a cold. You might wanna treat this as a real flu and see what happens. Don't try to eat for a bit and sip on water or herbal tea.

Yeah, no.... thats not induction flu, either you ate something bad or you have the real stomach flu. Drink as much liquid as you can, sip it little by little. If you have any fresh ginger in the refrig, cut a slice into the water, it will help.
If it continues tomorrow, best call the doc, especially if you can't keep anything down.

Hope you feel better soon, I hate it when I get sick.....

When I was on induction about 3 yrs ago I went through a vomiting and very exhausted phase. Only lasted about 3 days. If you are taking a vitamin take it at night .... Good luck hope you feel better!

Induction (or, rather, switching from glucosis to lipolysis) should not cause vomiting.

                  Re: Nausea and vomiting

Thanks everyone. Knowing that is was the flu and not induction flu actually kept me positive and kept on track. I did drink some diet ginger ale and broth when I felt the worse but is was the only thing I could keep down. Then I started drinking more water the next day when I could keep it down. I feel much better now and look forward to going back to the ymca on Monday!!

Good to know that you are getting over it, Chippy
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
