  • First week review

    I started Atkins on Tuesday the 8th of January. I think I have followed what I am supposed to be doing. Here is what I have been doing every day. Can someone tell me if I am doing anything wrong? I haven't weighed myself a second time and I don't plan to until Monday morning. I have included what I am believing to be the carb intake.

    Tuesday breakfast
    3 scrambled eggs 1.5 carbs (.5 carbs per egg) I used butter to cook with
    New York Strip steak 0 carbs
    Fiber drink 5 carbs
    daily vitamin (men's one a day)

    Lunch
    Spinach salad with New York Strip Steak 3 carbs (3 cups) from spinach and 0 carbs from steak also had shredded cheese

    Dinner
    New York Strip Steak

    9 glasses of water and I had one of those atikns bars that were 2 carbs

    So by my count I had 11 carb intake that day.

    Wednesday
    Breakfast

    New York Strip steak 0 carbs
    Fiber drink 5 carbs
    daily vitamin (men's one a day)

    Lunch
    Spinach salad with sprimp (not breaded) 3 carbs (3 cups) from spinach and 0 carbs from shrimp also had shredded cheese

    Dinner
    Chicken and cubed chesse.
    10 glasses of water

    total of 9.5 carbs

    Thursday
    Breakfast
    3 scrambled eggs 1.5 carbs (.5 carbs per egg) I used butter to cook with
    New York Strip steak 0 carbs
    Fiber drink 5 carbs
    daily vitamin (men's one a day)

    Snack atkins bar 2 carbs

    Lunch
    Spinach salad with chicken and shredded cheese 3 carbs 3 carbs

    Dinner
    steak and unbreaded fried shrimp 0 carbs

    atkins bar 2 carbs
    11 glasses of water.

    Anyone see anything I am not doing correctly, or that I am eating to much of, or not enough of or something I should change?

    Use an accurate carb counter so that you know for sure how many net carbs you're consuming. I made some suggestions in your other thread.

    5 NET carbs?! Are you sure?

    3 cups of spinach (which is more than you had if you included the steak in your 3 cups) has less than 3 net carbs.

    And definitely read the book -- Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002).

    How big are the glasses?

    I had one of those atikns bars that were 2 carbs
    As I wrote in your other thread, I don't recommend having these.

    How many calories are you consuming? Are you eating at least your BMR?

    Are you sure you are counting net carbs and not total carbs?

      I agree with Georgiana, the bars (whatever the packet claimns) are not really induction-friendly due to the ingredients in them. Always look at the list of ingredients as well as the nutrition numbers to make sure any food you are considering only contains ingredients that are allowed on your Atkins phase. The bars usually contain soy or grains so are a late OWL addition.

      F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )
