  • I'm on my 5th day of induction, how to read grams?

    Hi all!

I'm still in SBD mentality and am trying to change into Aktins mode smoothly. Aktins states it has to be up to 20 grams, does that mean the total of fats to eat? I am trying to image the measure equals to 20 grams. Since four days of induction, I ate cheeses, bluecheese dip, heavy cream, butter, and so forth, how many cups are equally to 20 grams?

One more thing, does 20 grams exclude the vegetables?

    Any input will be appreciated!!

    Thanks.

      Hi there,
      Welcome.
Sounds like you need a little help. Do you have a copy of the book and have you read it?

Please read these links to get you a little more informed.

You need to read Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002).

And check out the links provided above by mission to lose.

No, it means grams of net carbs. Net carbs are total carbs minus dietary fiber.

20 net carbs includes all the foods you eat. Over half of your net carbs should come from vegetables.

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Hi and welcome to ADBB. I’m glad you found the board and are ready to start the plan. Like you've already been told, mke sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy locally of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com – I got a “used” copy recently for less than $5.00 including shipping.

Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
          http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin daily. Look at the challenges to see if there is anything that interests you - start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!!

          Good luck to you!
          Carole
