What is the goal for us on fitday what % should we aim for on carbs fat and protein? Mine for the day is 71% fat 25% protein 4% carbs. My fat seems to high even before adding butter and olive oil for cooking it was still at 62% is that to high?

Re: Fitday
That sounds fine.
From different studies done on Atkins, the percentages are roughly 60-70% fat, 5-10% carbs and the rest protein. They are not carved in stone though.

Re: Fitday
Atkins gave an interview on television some years ago and gave the percentages of roughly 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs. 2big4mysize remembers the actual percentages and can correct me here. I keep my totals to that range for induction, though I'm know to hit 80% fat. I love the stuff!
looker, if you're feeling well, you're doing fine! If you feel at all hungry, just add a wee bit more fat and Robert's your father's brother.

Re: Fitday
actuall Dr Atkins medical staff back when he was alive used 65% fats 30% proteins and 5% carbs for induction and that is what he told them to use in the DUKE study too. 75% is what he does in the first step down off the fat fast for the metabolically resitant folk in chapter 20 of DANDR,by the book atkinseer

Re: Fitday
The ratios are guidelines though.
They're not carved in stone!
If you eat all your vegetables, eat all your food, and make sure you get enough fat, you're likely to be in the right range.
Concentrate on the net carbs.J.

Re: Fitday
lookergirl76 hang in there that caffeine headache will go away by day 4. you can use any OT pain med that doesn't have caffeien for it if you need something. the warning stuff in DANDR is for long term use not occasional induction headaches.
the 70% is Dr Barry Grooves eat fat plan amount.Originally posted by cleochatra View PostThanks so much for correcting me. LOL. I eat 80% fat, so obvs my numbers are skewed!

Re: Fitday
The one % that is carved in stone is the protein %. In Atkins Diabetes Revolution, it specifically states the protein % is 30-35% throughout the Atkins Diet. I'll cite the chapter tomorrow, because I don't have the book with me at home.

Re: Fitday
yep protein stays the same cause we need more protein then just the amount used for growth and repair because some body parts can not process fatty acids nor ketones and they need glucose which we make from proteins and the hydrocarbon backbone from fats as their fuel source.by the book atkinseer

Re: Fitday
Glad your caffeine withdrawals only lasted a day. Mine from my huge diet coke addiction were so bad on day 3 I almost quit, but day 4 arrived so quiet calm and energized.

Re: Fitday
Oh crap I didnt think about it but I bought diet coke cause it had the made with splenda on it so I figured it was ok I didnt even think about the caffeine part. Well no wonder I lean towards the diet coke instead of the diet rite white grape my brain knew it made me feel better, darn it! I know I had the headache anyways cause I drink a ton of regular soda before I will stick to the white grape from now on. For my exercise im doing a exercise bike I did 30min first day 45min second day and a hour today I will get up to 1.5 hours a day and stick to that plus add in some weights etc in a couple days. Just as of a couple months ago I was doing 1.5-2 hours a day of workouts so just building my body back up to that I was so happy working out so much just gotta get there again. Do you know of any other splenda sodas I can buy with no caffeine? Thanks
