  • OMG I feel like crap!

    This is only day 3 and I feel like I've been hit by a truck. I did this before 5 years ago and I forgot how bad I would feel. My head is killing me and I'm exhausted but can't sleep.

    I've lost 4 lbs already which is great. I really carb-loaded over the holidays so I knew I'd get a quick response. I just forgot about the other responses.

    Talk me down from the ledge. It's all I can do not to go to the kitchen and drink a huge coffee loaded with cream and sugar. I have 3 kids and one is home sick this week (he has some serious health issues) so I can't just crawl under a rock until I feel better.

    Help!!

    Hang in there - it will pass in a day or two. Drink lots of water to help remove the evil toxins your body is shedding.

      I would also advise you to hang in there the symptoms will pass soon.

        Feeling like you've been hit with the wonky stick means all is as it should be. Ironic, I know. Wait for the happy vibes. They're a-coming by about day 5 or 6.

          Are you also cutting out caffeine cold turkey? If so, that does contribute a lot to feeling crappy and you may want to wean your self off of it during the week rather than stop all at once.

          Another thought: There seems to be a direct correlation in how much carb/sugar/processed food your pre-Atkins diet was and how awful you feel during the beginning of Induction. That ship has sailed with your holiday eating but just to let you know you'll feel much better once your body detoxes.

            I am on day 13 of induction and have gone through the same thing and as they have said it will pass. Once it passes you will feel so much better as I do.

            I found what worked the best for me when I had cravings was to drink water, go to these boards and read what others have gone through and the success they have had. Going for a walk, or some form of exercise works also. I looked at myself in a full length mirror one time when I had a craving and talked to myself about what I was trying to do. This WOE works, you just have to work with it.

              COngratulations you are forcing your body to become a fat burning machine!!! yOUR BODY IS BUSY MAKING MORE MOLECULES OF THE ENZYMES AND CARRIER COMPOUNDS NEEDED TO MOVE THOSE FATS FROM BODY STORAGE TO ENERGY PRODUCTION PLACES. yOUR CELLS ARE MANUFACTURING MORE AND MORE OF THE PARTS NEEDDED TO MAKE MITOCHONDRIA WHICH IS WHERE FATS ARE USED TO MAKE BODY ENERGY UNITS. oops that darn cap lock key not yelling at you.

              if you run to the kitchen and scarf down some carbby foods your body will stop and run the sugar ccyel which you already know will make you bigger so bolt yoursewlf to a chair and duck tape your mouth so on carbby foods can attack you.

              ina day or two you are going to be so happy you held fast.

                Thank you everyone for your support. I walked to get my mind off things. I had to walk for over an hour before I felt calmer and more in control. I also took a short nap to help a little.

                I need to summon up the energy and go to the grocery store. I'll feel better if I look in the fridge and I see lots of things that I can eat.

                  good for you.

                  fill that fridge and also let your Atkins wants pick the foods for the next meal cause if you want crunchie and you feed yourself mushy you will not feel as satisfied. Same for hot and cold spicey and bland. I fixed lots of atkins legal foods during induction ahead of time then allowed my eyes to pick what I was going to eat each time. i can't tell you how strange the combos sounded but they made me happy and legal for my atkins.

                    WELL DONE! You can do this! Suffer a bit now and you will reap great rewards. Last weekend I had the worst migraine in the world. Brutal. Took drugs and went to bed. Fortunately, my kids are teenagers. Stay strong!
