  • 10 days in & almost no weightloss

    Hello everyone!

I'm a new member and just started the Atkins last Monday. I am 10 days in and have only lost 2 lbs. I started at 145lbs and want to get to 130/125lbs. I'm getting married in April & want to look my best. I have some experience with this diet. I went on it just before Prom about 10 years ago. I was roughly in the same weight range.

I just got the ketostix today and I am definalty in ketosis (dark purple). I knew I was also last week also cause I had all the symptoms. I am also working out but only a few times a week and I do crossfit workouts which always make me very sore the next day, so I know they are working. I dont think I am losing inches casue my clothes aren't fitting any differently.

My diet has been very strict. Never excedding the 20g per day that are permitted during induction. I get all my carbs from veggies. Is it maybe I'm not eating enough? I have skipped breakfast the last 2 days and ate a sting cheese instead and not eating again until lunch. I usually eat 2 eggs and some sausage or bacon for breakfast, a salad with steak or chicken for lunch and a protien and veggies for dinner and thats about it. I dont really snack during the day. I am drinking more water than I ever did (which was practically none) cause of the incurable thirst. I dont touch any form of soda (not even diet) or caffene. I did have 3 vadka's with club soda saturday night. So I don't know what I am doing wrong.

ANy advise would greatly be appreciated.

    Hi,

Great to hear about your upcoming Wedding!

Maybe if you post a menu for a few days with amounts of food and carbs it can be commented on. WE have no way of knowing if you didn't eat enough without that.

Skipping meals is not the way to do this. And alcohol is not allowed on Induction.

Also you do no have a lot of weight to lose, so you will lose at a slower rate than others with more to lose.

How much water are you drinking? Minimum is 64oz. Are you keeping track.

ALso, do you have the book?

Dr. Atkins in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 ed.

Give us a little info and then we can give you some good answers to help you.

Well . . . . to have lost 2 pounds already from a total hoped for loss of up to 20 pounds is a 10% loss so far

Not bad taking into account the vodka which would postpone any potential losses untill your body has used up the alcohol and can get back to burning fat
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

congrats on the great start. you have as Elizellen said already shed 10% of your needed to lose weight. For somebody like me that would have been over 16 pounds.
the thirst and loss of appetite are signs you are in ketosis and everything is working.

becasue Atkins is higher protein that the amount needed for growth and delevopement you will be adding some lean body weight which can hide your body fat scale losses too but if you use your tape meausre and check your neck chest waist hips thighs bicepts wrist and calf you will see inches of you have been shed as you morph yourself to the smaller healtheir person you want to be come your wedding day.

Remember too those folk are not going to see your scale weight number unless you tatoo it to your forehead.g the healtheir smaller you walking down the aisle.

Move to OWl on day 15 and be ready for those changes going on inside your skin.

Thanks for the tips. I have lost another 1lb from yesterday mornings weigh in. I know I shouldn't be weighing my self daily, but I can't resist the temptation.

I am definalty trying to increase my water intake. And I brought 0carb cheese to snack on at work today.

The zero carb cheese does not exist. All cheese have carbs because it is made from milk which has lactose. So when you eat cheese you eat carbs. Atkins suggested we could 1 carb per ounce.
the reason teh package may claim zero carb is because it lies. They are allowed to round down and if the serving size is small and carbs are o.5 and under they can claim zero. Always be suspicious of zero carb foods unless they are meats and fish.

                Svoren,

You're reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002), right?

Are you using a reliable carb counter? The labels on foods aren't 100% reliable.

just using the website currently. All I have been using is the nutrition label. Does anyone have a reliable carb counter they could recommend?

                      Which website are you using?

                      I would recommend the USDA

which can be downloaded to your PC, too, at:

                      Nutrient Data Products and Services

or the online program FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal, which uses the USDA database.

Here is a post I put together with lots of good information for those starting/re-starting the Atkins WOE. There are links there for tools that will help. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html

Remember - it's NOT just the number of carbs you are watching. It is the quality, as well. Make sure to eat off of the Accpetable Foods list. (there's a link to it in the info I directed you to above.)

                        Good luck!
