    Hi I've been on the atkins for about 8 days...I've lost nothng ...I've been following the 20 carb limit I'm in Ketosis..exercising...what the heck am I doing wrong????? can someone help....
    This is what I have been eating Brk-4 eggs,tblsp.butter 4 slices bacon,decaf coffee,2 tblsp. cream,one stevia carb free...Lunch-on cup iceberg lettuce, 1 oz. feta cheese,mayo and mustard dressing,6 slices cucumber 1/8 inch thick,1 hard boiled egg...Supper chicken wings dipped in mustard and mayo dip,2 cups and the same kind of salad for supper as lunch....maybe another two cups of decaf coffee with cream and stevia...i have been putting stevia on the chicken and two tblsps.off terriaki sauce...to cook the chicken...other than that I very my meat and that's my days....what the heck am I doing wrong.....

    I'm no expert, but I am fairly sure that Teryaki sauce has sugar. Also, maybe the stevia affects you negatively? Not enough veggies (try some with fiber and vitamins like broccoli) and don't forget that Feta is VERY salty, even the reduced sodium kind, as is bacon. Are you drinking tons of water?

      Wow Cecil. I rather agree with guekjian, I don't see anything glaring but during induction your limited to 3 packs of sweetner, so I would try to cut back on that.
      Also I would use fitday.com and plug everything you ate yesterday into it and then let us know what it said. Its a little time consuming at first but handy once you get use to it.
      Sodium could be an issue.
      Also what are your stats. How much do you weigh, how much do you want to lose.
      Some folks who only want to lose 10 to 15 pounds don't see the dramatic loses that those of us who want to lose 100 pounds do.

        I would also suspect the sugar (artificial sugar) intake and try to lower it. The limit that Atkins put on artificial sugars were 3 but some of us do a lot better if we stick to zero. The last time I did induction I went artificial sugar free and it was great (for 14 days)

        There is no under 20 carb rule. The rule is no more than 20 carbs with most of the carbs coming from veggies. This is an important distinction because we learn that we cannot fill our day with cheese or cream and sugar and sauces. We need to make sure we have veggies. Iceberg salad is like liquid water - there is nothing too it. So you are not following this rule. Change that up.

        Also read all labels - carefully on absolutely everything you buy.

        Drink plenty of water - especially if you exercise lots

        And sometimes if we exercise a lot we retain water and we also gradually change our body composition so measuring rather than weighing is often a better way to chart progress. I went down 4 sizes without losing a pound one fall.

          All of the above and...how about the exercise dept?

          You should be doing some form of exercise every day.


          Are you Male or Female...Also how old are you? Age can sometimes be a factor. Older takes a little longer than younger.

          You didn't say how much water you are drinking. Don't forget to take your measurements NOW, for comparison later down the road!

              I am exercising everyday...12 cups of water and more everyday, stevia is what I'm using no carbs,I 49 female...

                  More vegetables!

                  Make sure you're getting as close to 20 net carbs, with MOST of them coming from Induction vegetables.

                  Make sure you're getting enough calories, too.

                          I load my salad with spring mix, cucumber slices, radish, celery, green onion, broccoli and cauliflower...that way I know I'm getting enough veggies in every day. I have 1 large (2 cup) salad for lunch and 1 cup of veggies off the 2nd list (they have more fiber).

                          Stevia is still counted toward your sweetner limit daily -- 3 servings daily. The terikiyi sauce is probably a sugar laden product. You can make Buffalo wings in place of your sweet wings....they are good too! Check the recipe sites for something different to eat - variety is crucial to not becoming bored and ending up quitting or cheating.

                          Are you drinking pure water (nothing added)? If you are drinking 12 glasses I assume they are 8 ounce glasses which would be about 96 ounces of water daily -- that's a good amount to begin with. Also, try to get your coffee down to 1 or 2 -- even decaf has some caffeine in it. Try not to add your carbs with non-nutritional items (sweetner) - make sure your carbs come from good nutrition.

                            other then a few illegal things you are doing fine. have you measured to see how many inches of body fat you have shed.

                            one of our early mods and admins lost zero pounds on induction and went on to became a goalie 10 months later. here is her story to help easy your fears about doing somehting wrong.
