  • Confused about Tuna

I just bought some of the Starkist Albacore White Tuna in water packets (and they taste really good! far better than canned)

Here is the question. I thought tuna was supposed to not have any carbs? On my package it says 1 carb per serving. Well there are 3 servings in this package to 3 carbs total.

Im just confused why does this tuna have carbs is this accurate?

I just went and got mine, I have a pack of the chunk light, and it said <1 carb and <1 fiber so they balance themselves out. Check your ingredients, mine said vegetable broth and then below it said CONTAINS FISH AND SOYBEANS, where the carbs probably come from and technically not legal, but oh well, it couldn't me much.

Ingredients say: White Tuna, Water, Vegatable Broth (is this where it's from?), Salt, Pyrophosphate
        Contains: Fish, Soybeans

I'd be more worried about the mercury contamination of tuna, too.

The carbs are from the broth and the soybeans.

            Why does tuna need soybeans?

I'd look for a different brand since that broth is made from stuff that's not permitted during Induction.

                          Re: Confused about Tuna

I buy canned Solid White Albacore tuna in water -- and have no problem eating it (the taste is good as long as it's Albacore and not the cheap stuff). Bumble Bee brand has soy added (why? stupid but they do) so the 2 cans I have of that anyone else in the house can eat....StarKist brand has white meat tuna, whater, salt, sodium acid pyrophasphate.....nothing that doesn't belong in a tuna can. I read every nutrition label before it goes into my cart and comes into my home! The Bumble Bee brand...my mother bought to "help me out".....so she can eat it - that will "help me out".....lol

                            Re: Confused about Tuna

We only buy tuna that is soybean free and packed in water when we do in fact eat it. 0 carbs there.

Soybeans are like silicon breasts: They pad the natural goods, but they're not necessarily good for you.

Nor is tuna necessarily "good" for you!
