I started Atkins on January 3rd. THe first couple days were pretty rough while my body was adjusting to going without all the carbs that it is used to. I remember feeling like I didn't think I would be able to make it.

By day 3, I felt amazing - and I was down 6 lbs, so I felt even better!

To me, a veggie lover, I never, ever felt deprived. I never had to go hungry, and I always got to eat foods that I enjoyed. I found that I didn't even miss the unhealthy foods that I would have DIED for before starting this WOE. One day, my husband brought home soft serve from my FAVORITE local ice cream place for some guests we had over - I didn't even *want* it. That's when I knew that Atkins was really working.

By the end of week 1, I was down 15.5 lbs. You could have knocked my over with a feather, because I wasn't even hoping for that much weight loss in a whooe month!

Week 2 was a bit different. I still got to eat lots of great food, but the scale refused to budge. Some days, it went up, other days it went back down to where it was.

BUT... I have been losing inches!!! I am finally able to fit into my size 20 jeans, which I haven't worn since before I got pregnant - about 1.5 years ago! They're still not quite comfortable enough to wear all day, but I can get them on, buttoned and zipped! It's such an amazing feeling!!!

So, for any of you who are just starting out... don't be discouraged by the induction flu in the beginning. It's short-lived, and so worth it in the end.

If you get bored with your food choices, ask for some recommendations from other board members! I was pleasantly surprised to see just how many amazing dinners I could make every night - and you don't have to be a master chef to cook them, either.

As for me, I'm going to go on to extended induction, at least for a week or so. According to the book, it would be a good idea for me to give it a try, but I'm going to take it one week at a time. I'm also looking forward to OWL and exploring even more food options - even though I'm quite enjoying the ones that I already have.

Good luck to all you other friends who are doing you Induction! Keep up the good work - it'll be over sooner than you think!
