  • Day 14 of Induction and...

    I got a sweet tooth.

Where did that come from? I have been really strict. No caffiene, no alcohol, no desserts, no breads or pasta, just meat (not even sausages as I can't find any w/o sugar added), veggies and lots of water.

I "will powered" my way thru it and am going to bed, but this was really the first time I felt this. Anybody else been thru this?

If you were female we would be asking how close it is to your 'time of the month'

As it is (assuming your avatar is a self portrait) are you sure there were no 'suspect' ingredients in anything you have eaten or drunk?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Yes I am also on induction and on day 3 I had major craving for sweets. I noticed it again yesterday though not so bad right after I ate some vinegar. I read several tips to curve the feeling like eat something really fatty, brush you teeth, suck on a pickle.

After eatng some deviled eggs it went away. I also whipped up some heavy cream and ate that but it wasn't very sweet.

Ya know, I went out to dinner the night before with the kids to a local hamburger joint where you can order your hamburger "protein style", which means no bun/wrapped in leaf lettuce. When I ate it, I noticed that it had tomatoes (which are suppose to be O.K. on Inductions [but I've avoided]) and figured that they used processed cheese on it (but shrugged it off as being only a marginal amout of carbs at best) and I also noticed that the spread was sweet (like thousand island dressing).

I also had tuna & broccolli salad that I made at home (totally sugar free) for lunch and new I was pushing my carb totals for the day.

I hope that wasn't it. Oh well, today is a new day.

        Thanks for the insight Elizellen.

Next time get it without the "spread".

Did you have a sweet tooth before Atkins?

Induction is not a magic cure for a sweet tooth ... I suspect a lot of people fight their dragons ... all the time.

            Hi PolarBearKing,

It might have been the "sweet sauce" on the burger that spiked you a bit in the craving department. Drink plenty of water and try to flush it out of your system.....you'll be just fine my friend

If you happen to notice this continue, you might want to look into a suppliment called Chromium Picolinate...I found that when I went up to the berry rung (in the summer time) I started to crave lsweet stuff like crazy and had some significant difficulties...Sherri (she is on the board here) turned me onto the stuff and it worked quite well to get me through those times. I don't take it regularly but when I start having some sweet cravings, I'll take it for a few days and all is well again.

Keep up the great job, you'll get through this!

Nope, not a sweets guy. I'm all about the meat & potatoes, well, now I'm skipping the potatoes.

I've even skipped caffiene diet soda's during this phase (and dinner that night ~ just had H2O).

I've missed my coffee routine the most (that is with spenda normally), but am getting over it. One of these runds I'll add decaf...

I suppose it was the dressing. I feel fine today. Got thru all of the NFL play off games without any snacks or beers.

It is great that you have probably found out what caused the cravings I suppose the only way to be double sure would be to eat exactly the same menu minus the sauce one day and see if your cravings re-occur.
