  • Eggs.................!

I love eggs, & find that on the days i have them for breakfast i feel satisfied all day long... yesterday I didnt have eggs for breakfast and I noticed by mid morning that I felt light headed and irritable (I had 2 slices of ham and 1oz of cheddar for breakfast)

Is it ok to have 2 eggs for breakfast everyday? From the perspective of having too many eggs in a week?

I eat lots of healthy veg & salad and mainly chicken, turkey and fish for my other meals..plus 3-4 litres of fresh water. I am loving this WOE, and after years of yo yo'ing ive realised that this WOE is my Way of life now because i feel sooo great!

Ive lost 10lbs so far.... I just want to make sure that the 2 eggs a day is ok?

    Re: Eggs.................!

Eggs are a great Atkins food! the old myth that there is a limit to how many eggs we eat has pretty much been debunked from what I have read/heard.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

thanks for your quick reply elizellen, some colleagues at work were asking me what I was doing to loose weight - i said lots of exercise, drinking fresh water combined with low carb eating, of course they always want more explanantion, and i dont like to say oh yes im doing atkins as ther e are so many peeps out there who have not read the book and think they know it all!!! then they ask what i eat for breakfast if low carb....so i say poached eggs and salmon... then they say 'what everyday? eggs?... oh thats really bad for you, thats what they said on gmtv!'
you have to laugh eh, I laugh.. cos i let them battle on with their liquid replacement diets or starving themselves on other low fat eating diets....safe in the knowledge that im loosing weight, eating filling yummy food, full of energy! lol ! xx

        Re: Eggs.................!

Cholesterol is not such a villain. It's essential for several body functions, such as steroid hormone production, cell wall health or vitamin D production. Your body manufactures most of the cholesterol found in your blood at a rate of 800-1500 mg per day. A large egg has 212 mg of cholesterol. However, dietary cholesterol does not immediately or necessarily become blood cholesterol... and less than 50% is actually absorbed by the body.

When following a low carbohydrate, high fat way of eating, dietary fat and cholesterol should not be a concern. By controlling carbohydrate intake, you are actually controlling your insulin level. Since insulin is a fat storing hormone, in the absence of excessive insulin you are preventing its hormonal fat storage effect. For most people, this has a positive impact on blood lipids.

Of course, there are also some people who have a genetic predisposition for high cholesterol...

          Great info, Georgiana!

I have been eating lots of eggs for over 2 years and my blood tests are always normal.

            Re: Eggs.................!

I don't restrict eggs. They are as you say kind of super foods. Fill you up and keep you going. Yes people have many ideas in their heads about what is healthy.
There was a time that scientists believed we had to restrict eggs but they have since come to the conclusion that eating eggs may actually help lower cholesterols. It is funny how the one story "egg is bad for you" took hold very fast and made such an impact on people while the other "eggs are good for you" has not. The egg lobby has to work harder
