  • Day 4!

I weighed myself this morning and I have so far lost 9 lbs! I am really liking this new way of eating so far. I have had a couple of side effects, and I can only assume they are related to doing Atkins. The first is that yesterday I got a nosebleed. I don't know why this would be related, but I can't remember the last time I had a nosebleed. Probably when I was a child. Also, I go through periods where I'm really hot and get sweaty. Like yesterday I was out running errands and all of a sudden I got really hot and sweaty all over even though the shop I was in was not overly warm. Fat burning?? Even though I am in induction I am still drinking some caffeine in the AM, but have significantly cut back. I also realized this morning that I am going over on my Splenda, so starting today I will be cutting back on that too. I have had a little bit of diet soda since starting, but not nearly as much as before. Even though I know these are all supposed to be cut out, I feel like it's good to even have cut back on them so drastically. I am also drinking WAY more water than ever before. Far more than the recommended 64 oz. Ketosis is really making me thirsty. Plus drinking water seems to be the only way to temporarily get rid of the horrible taste in my mouth.

It makes me feel good to update and write this all out. Good luck to all those still in induction, I love reading your posts, it's so helpful!!!

    Re: Day 4!

Congratulations on your loss so far I am glad you are enjoying your induction

I have never heard of nosebleeds being a result of doing Atkins. However some people do report that they feel hotter - and some that they feel colder - when starting Atkins.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Re: Day 4!

Hi & welcome - I'm glad you are enjoying your new WOE. I found that most of the bad side-effects went away after a few weeks. The good ones stayed (no heartburn, gas, etc). That bad taste in your mouth either goes away or you get used to it, most of us long-termers don't notice it after a few months.

I find that drinking water makes me crave more water...it is like my body says "I like that!, more please!"

        Re: Day 4!

Hi Portland. I am just north of you in Washington and I would love a little hot and sweaty. LOL, if this rain doesn't quit, I might have to move to Southern Calif for awhile.

Congrats on your weight loss. That is awesome. And cutting back on diet soda will really improve your health. I was reading today that all soda is horrid for your teeth except Root Beer. They said if your going to drink it use a straw. That included diet soda
