    how important is it to extercise whilst on the atkins diet

    According to the Dr. Atkins "Exercise is non-negotiable". You have to do it.

      but whilst exercising your body will starting getting new muscels but whilst on low carb diets muscel will not grow because of the lack of carbs

        No. Your body will use the energy from the fats, proteins and the limited carbs you are eating to build muscle. Moreover, when you exercise you use up energy which means you will "burn fat". That fat burning from exercise along with the fat burning of Atkins will be terrific for your weight loss. Also when you exercise, you will build up your muscle, which will speed up your metabolism, allowing you to burn more fat. Again, all that fat burning plus the fat burning of Atkins will help you lose more weight.

            Atualy Dr Atkins said if you don't exercise you are not doing his program in chapter 15 of your DANDR.

            you will grow muscle eating Atkins even if you don't exercise according to the UConn study and exercising and eating Atkins will grow you even more!


            As Dr Atkins tells us in the Q and A of chapter 11 the cals in have to be less then the cals burned up by the body from all sources for weight loss to work, so burning more cals exercising will lose you more weight too!
