  • Finally in ketosis, but no weight loss :-(

    Hi

    After 9 days I am finally in ketosis, my stick turned very dark red yipeeeee. My only worry is I havent lost any weight :-( Any ideas why not. I am using fitday religiously, counting everything I eat. I thought maybe even 1Lb lost, but nothing :-(

    The thing about the strips- its very individualized. Im not sure how i feel about using them. You can be in ketosis and it *not show up in your urine. This can be discouraging. I dont belive atkins is for everyone- but I do believe you gotta try to stay on it for the whole two weeks. IMO it took you nine days to get into ketosis-with proof anyway- and its not until you're there that you will start burning the fat. Now that you are- stay with it and I bet you will start to melt it off!
    Just pls dont get too hung up on the sticks!

        Thanks for the reply. I know I shouldnt rely upon the sticks, but I gave me a boost knowing I was doing it right lol. Oh I will stick with it, Im not giving up after my hard work.

          Did you take measurements as well when you started induction? Losing inches counts as well as weight

          Keep on keeping on!!

            Are you sure your eating the right foods? Can you post some of the food your eating? The first time I did atkins I failed miserably because what I did not follow the instructions. I was eating food / drinks with aspertame, pepperoni, ham, etc. All the bad foods that contained sugar but said it had 0 carbs on the back of the packaging. I was the same when I used the sticks...it was dark purple but no results! I went on for 30 days with no weight loss at all and in high ketosis...frustrated I quit figuring the diet did not work.

                First of all, you are undereating your vegetables. Over half of your net carbs should come from vegetables... which is not happening most days. Your carbs are coming mostly from cheese, cream, avocado, etc.

                Why are you using Philadelphia Light? Full fat cheese is typically preferred on Atkins.

                What kind of cheese are you eating, other than Philadelphia? You enter it as "cheese", which doesn't say too much. If you eat cheddar, use the entry for cheddar. If you eat mozzarella, use the entry for mozzarella. This is more accurate than using the generic cheese entry.

                What's that "Tesco sliced chicken"? What are the ingredients in it? Where do those 0.3 g of carbohydrate come from?

                What's "Sainsbury's 100% 1/4 bu"? It has quite a lot of carbs!

                Why did the McDonald's salad have 460 calories? Did you have any dressing with it?

                Squash is junk. Better ditch it.

                What kind of avocado are you eating? A California avocado and a Florida avocado will have different net carb counts.

                      On 1/19 ... what kind of basic squash? Not all squash is allowed on Induction.

                      Or is this not the vegetable?

                      Why "light" cream cheese? (1/13)?

                      7 eggs a day???

                      Are you buying your meats already prepared? If not, why not use the Fitday entries?

                      I notice in your Custom foods some non Induction friendly items ... are you eating the yoghurt, oat cakes, fruitella, salted nuts, sweetcorn, and carrots?

                      Marmite isn't Induction friendly either.

                      Also, you should not be having "light" mayonnaise.

                        Hi In answer to some of the questions.

                        I only ate philedlilphia once, it was what was in the fridge :-/ the cheese is always cheddar.

                        Tesco sliced chcken breast is what it says. There is nothing added, so not sure where the carbs come from, I took the nutrients from the packet. Theres no sugar or anything just 100% chicken breast.

                        Sainsbury 100% 1/4 pounder is a hamburger with nothing added, ingredients are just beef, salt & pepper. Not sure again where the carbs come from perhaps its a UK thing, same with the chicken ?

                        It wasnt a mcdonalds salad it was a mcdonalds big tasty pattie, with salad, but no cheese (as its processed) or sauces, or bun.

                        I do drink 3 litres at least of plain water, the sqaush was extra it has no sugar.

                        The avocado was half a small Haag (or something like that)!

                          The sweets, marmite, oat cakes, yoghurt, light mayo were all pre Atkins .

                          No my meats are not ready prepared but are not from a butchers, but from a supermarket so took the ingredients and values from the packet rather than fitday.

                            I am have 3 cups of veg per day, so how can I be undereating my veg? I thought thats all I was allowed. Im confused :-/

                              The sqash is water flavouring, I have checked for sugar. I contains only the allowed sweetner.
