    Hello,

I've got a similar problem and getting a bit anxious. I've been on the induction for a week now, and I've been so so strict, eating only fresh foods that are definitely on the list.....and I haven't lost a single pound. How long does ketosis take to begin generally? I haven't got the strips, but i feel perfectly normal, just really thirsty all the time despite drinking loads of water always.

    Many Thanks

Can you post a complete menu? Please include quantities and net carbs.

    I haven't lost a single pound
Did you lose inches? Are your clothes looser?

What are your stats... height, starting weight, goal weight?

    I haven't got the strips
You don't need them, no worries.

        Hi Georgiana, thanks for replying.

        Breakfasts -
        2rashes bacon, 2 poached eggs
1 kipper fillet, scrambles eggs 3 (butter)
1 mackeral fillet, scrambled eggs 3

So far I've had one of these variations each day

        Lunches -
Salmon fillet (fried with butter) with 1cup spinach, 1stick celery, 1inch cucumber and 2tsp mayo (full fat!) about 5g carbs total

Prawns with same salad as above and mayo

Chicken breast (cooked in butter) with same salad as above and mayo

(i keep lunches simple and similar each day as they're easy for work!)

        Dinners -

Chicken breast stuffed (myself) with mozz cheese, with 1cup spinach - 3g carbs

Chorizo and mozz cheese, with salad leaves, spring onion(not sure about these?), 3 baby tomatos - about 10g carbs

Pork loin with courgettes and brocolli - about 4g carbs

Omlette with bacon, mushrooms, toms, and chedder cheese - 6g carbs

3sausages (gluten free bought fresh from market) with 1 courgette and 4 asparagus and mayo - 5g carbs

I drink either decaf coffee with tiny dash of cream or red bush tea, and I've been drinking at least 6 large glasses of water each day if not more.

If I snack then it is only on chorizo sausage, or gluten free sausages that i cook and keep in fridge.

My height is 5ft 2inch, my wight is 134 and i want it to be between 112 and 119.

I'm currently on day 9 or induction and just feel totally the same, my body is the same and i'm the same weight, the only benefit has been that I'm not craving food all the time like i was before I started - which i'm grateful for!

Thanks for your help, if you could let me know about faults in my menu that would be great!

It seems to me you are counting total carbs, not net carbs? Is this what you're doing?

                  Chorizo
                  What are the ingredients?

                  mozz cheese
You don't mention quantities... but are you limiting cheese to 4 oz per day? And 4 oz might be too much for you, even though it's allowed.

3sausages (gluten free bought fresh from market)
What exactly are the ingredients? Just because they are gluten free it does not mean all ingredients are okay for Induction.

6 large glasses of water each day
How much is that, in ounces?

Are you using FitDay or some similar tool to track your net carbs?

If you are, then how many calories are you consuming, on average?

Are approximately 65% of your daily calories coming from fat?

                    Are you exercising?

                    Any medication you're taking?

                      Hello again.

What is the difference between counting net carbs and total carbs? Sorry i don't understand!

I don't know the ingredients of the chorizo and the sausages as I bought them off the market and they have no labels....maybe I should stop eating both to be on the safe side.

I will keep a check on the cheese amounts - thanks!

And water it approx 100 fluid oz per day but this obviously varies.

Until just now I knew nothing about fitday but have now made an account so will use this for tracking. I'm normally quite good and keeping a check on calories and don't think I've been exceeding 2000 per day. Are calories a big factor too?

Also, I've been for 2mile jogs outside four times since being on induction.....but this is something that I do fairly regularly anyway.

                      Thanks for your help

On Atkins, we are counting net carbs... which are total carbs minus dietary fiber, on American labels.

Since you are in the UK, the carbs on the label will be net carbs and you should not deduct anything from them.

What's the source of those carb counts you listed?

I wouldn't eat them without knowing the ingredients.

Overeating will make you gain weight, of course.

Undereating can interfere with weight loss, too.

You should eat the amount needed to satisfy your hunger.

                        fitday
To calculate net carbs in FitDay, you will need to subtract dietary fiber from carbohydrates.

As Georgiana implied, sausages in UK almost all have some kind of starch - usually breadcrumbs or rusk (made from wheat) in them. all the gluten free ones I have seen contain rice flour or potato starch instead, so are not Atkins induction-legal

If you like sausages you can make your own by buying sausage meat or ground meat of any kind and making them yourself. I only add spices and some ground linseed (flax) to mine. I was lucky enough to find an unopened 'sausage making kit' at a charity shop a couple of years ago so use that to make mine, but you can buy skins and the sausage-stuffing nozzle to attach to a mincing machine in many places.

I get my 'casings'from http://www.weschenfelder.co.uk/ but there are many other sources if you google for
                          sausage making

Without a sausage gadget you can always make 'patties' instead. I add an egg to the meat to act as a binder. To avoid them disintegrating when cooking I usually freeze these and cook them from frozen which makes them hold together better.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                              You can still make sausages.

Take a funnel, pull the casing onto the narrower end and push the meat through the other end into the casing.

And yes... I've actually done this.
