  • Deli meat questions

    Hi everyone!

I was recently looking up on the President's Choice website about their deli meats to see the ingredients and check the carb contents for my upcoming grocery shopping trip this Saturday morning. I did manage to find a few that were no carb and clean of sugar and sugar derivities.

    My question is this:

Do you purchase based on carb content, or ingredient list, or both? Some people may see dextrose or sugar on the list, however with 0 carbs, and still buy it. I was wondering about that. While I have found a few choices with both at none, I wanted to ask the rule of thumb on the deli meats?

    Thanks!

You should always look at both.

I wouldn't buy something with corn syrup in it, for example... even if the carbs are less than 0.5 grams (hence, 0 on the label).

If there was a brand without sugar that tasted decently, I'd probably choose that one instead of a brand with sugar.

Personally, I avoid deli meats unless it's the only option I have.
