    Welcome ! :joy

Today is the 3rd day and i am suffering from a dull thud in my head.
These few days will be difficult - all of us go through it in different ways, some more difficult than others, depending on how unbalanced your diet was before.
But I promise you, IT WILL PASS, and after a week, you will definitely feel much better. By the end of Induction, you will feel much more energetic!

also i find that breakfast is a nightmare when im at work... any suggestions to quick easy breakfasts ??
I only have time for breakfast at work because I don't get out of bed quickly enough. The microwave has become my friend at work (don't have one at home). Usually I keep some eggs at work, and from home, I would bring a tablespoon of cream and/or butter. I mix these with 2 - 3 eggs and in 20-30sec intervals, I would cook it in the microwave to get some yummy scrambled eggs. (Longer if you want omelette)

You are allowed half small avocado during Induction, so sometimes I add it to the omelette. Other days I would add 5-6 small shrimp. Sometimes a bit of grated cheese. If I remember, I will bring a slice of nitrate-free bacon, chop it up and add to my omelette.

If you're not to worried about what you eat at breakfast, sometimes leftover dinner isn't too bad

Diet coke may not help with easing your cravings so not recommended. Plus it has caffeine which inhibits your weight loss.

Just hang in there... your first week will be first, but just remember, we're all here to support you ! :hug

Hello Nonnie. Actually there is a post on here about the freshness of eggs, and in one of the posts there is a recepie for egg breakfast muffins. I made them last night for my husband to take to work today, he tried one last night and he couldn't get enough. The carb cound I had for mind was 1net carb. The only thing I would suggest is use a paper muffin cup instead of putting the batter directly into the muffin tin, I had some what of a time removing them. But that is fast, easy, and tasty, it doesnt get any better then that!!!! Hope you are doing good, im on day three too.

Breakfast is a night mare for me too. I either microwave eggs like tickle said or meat and cheese roll ups. Hard boiled eggs and develed eggs travel well.
Good luck you are off to a great start, ha

              Plan in advance!!!

Plan in advance. I know that I am not about to wake up early enough in the mornings to make breakfast, so I cook breakfast and lunch the night before and just nuke em (microwave) at work. I wasn't sure about microwaved eggs at first, but they taste all the same surprisingly. :wave

              Oh yeah! Welcome to ha

Sugar free diet coke is sweetened with aspartame, I believe, and Dr. Atkins advises us to avoid aspartame.
You can find info about the allowed sweeteners on page 128 of DANDR.

The first few days are tough, but you'll make it! 290wannabe150onAtkins said about egg muffins. They are wonderful! I make a big batch of them and grab a couple as I'm running out the door in the morning. They taste good nuked at work. Plan ahead, that is the ticket for our busy lives. I've also made mock danishes the night before and nuke them at work, they taste divine. Much success to you!

Congratulations on your decision to start Atkins today. You have found a great place to learn and ask questions! Here is the recipie:

Use meat of your choice (or no meat at all). I have tried it with ham, and sausage. Cook your meat up and let it cool. The amount is up to you. Then I use 6 eggs at a time (makes about 6 muffins). Beat your eggs and add a little bit of water (sometimes I add a little bit of cream, its up to you). I use the nonstick muffin pans, which work great. I put a little bit of meat in each muffin, then cover it to almost the top with the egg mixture. Then take a little bit of cheese of your choice and sprinkle it on top. I bake it for about 10-15 minutes or so.

I am so glad that a fellow atkineer gave me this recipie! I use it all of the time.

Much success to your lowcarb WOL.

Moochiecat is right. Diet coke, diet sprite and any of the diet drinks made by Coca-cola all use aspartame - often aspartame is also called phenylalanine.

You may be best making your own drinks eg herbal tea or unsweetened cocoa and adding your own artificial sugar like Splenda (sucralose)

Breakfast is also a big problem for me. The problem is that I have to get up at 5am, because I start work at 7am - and it takes me about 40 minutes to drive to work (very bad traffic around here). For the life of me I can't manage to eat egg at that time of morning - it makes me feel ill. As soon as I get to work then I realise how good those eggs would taste. In the end I land up waiting for lunch time, which I know is bad.
We don't have a microwave at work (can you belive that> :anger ?), so thats out of the question - although I did mention to my boss today that it might come in useful in winter!
Thanks to everyone for those egg muffin recipes- I think I will try it tonight - what a super idea! :nod

Sorry, I didn't say what temperature I bake the egg muffins at. I bake them at 350. You may have to adjust, depending on your oven. I can't eat eggs first thing in the a.m. either. I wait until about 9:00 or so to eat them. The type of sausage I use is a generic sausage (not links) that doesn't use sugar. It is difficult to find sausage that does not contain sugar or some kind of sugar product in it.

                              Hope you like them!

GenS can you buy a cheapo microwave for work? They aren't too expensive anymore. Wow, I can't imagine not having one at work. Thats pretty rough!
