  • End of induction tommorow...what to do?

Ok tommorow will be my 14 days. I have lost 12 lbs so far as of yesterday. I am wondering should I stay on induction longer since I have more than 100lbs to lose or move on? How long can I stay on induction? Will I lose more weight if I continue with induction than on the next step?

    Advice please!

read chapter 12 -14 of your DANDR so you know how you are currently doing with your blood sugar controls and induction health gains. From chapter 13 and 14 you will know what OWL is about and if it is time for you to move on.

If you like the foods you are currently having and don't want any new stuff then you could stay on induction longer. Dr Atkins said as long as you feel healthy and have significant weight to lose you can stay on induction.

Weight loss is going to slow down whither you move to OWL or not because you no longer have your glycogen reserves and their fluid stores but either plan will help you shed body fat.

with the spring berries coming up if you are a berry lover I'd recommend moving to OWL so you will be at berries when they come in season but if you aren't then don't worry about it.

OOPS congrats on the great start you have made

He also says those who move up the phases of his plan have the best success at staying a life long goalie so the choice is yours and yours alone to make.

In my opinion if, in induction, you've lost 10% or more of the weight you want to lose then there is really no reason to stay on induction. With 100+ pounds to lose I'd suggest you go to OWL 1 and hang out there for a while. If you are the type to eat the same vegetables over and over again try to use OWL 1 as an opportunity to try new things. The variety will help give you the nutrients you need.

Is weight loss greater while on induction than on OWL? I have about 150 lbs to lose still.

Only stay on induction if you're feeling good and dont want any extra vegetables etc...

Since you've got a fair amount of weight still to lose, i'd stay on induction for maybe another week then move onto OWL (personal opinion).

          Good luck!

Not if you do OWL right.

Most of your weight should be lost on OWL.

                Thanks for the advice guys.

My wife just started and has about 10 days to go until she is done with induction. I think I will stay on induction for just 10 more days just to help support her and then move on to OWL.

No. There is no guarantee that an extended Induction will produce a consistent rate of loss or a "fast" rate of loss.

What we've found on ADBB is that unless you are totally happy with the limited food choices on Induction and/or you are extremely creative with your Induction foods, food boredom occurs. Keep in mind that all "extended" Induction means is that you are continuing Induction for longer than 14 days AND you are still following the Induction Rules and eating only those foods on the Induction Acceptable Foods List. Once you start eating above Induction level carbs and/or eating non-Induction Acceptable Foods List foods, then you are no longer doing Induction.

sounds like a great plan. concentrate on getting your legal veggies eatten so you are ready to make the move and add even more of those yummy induction legal veggies when you hit rung one of induction. checkout cleochatra's blog if you haven't already cause she does some fantastic induction and OWL legal veggie things like taco shells pizza crusts and even lasagna noodles from cauliflower.
