  • I need help/question

    Hello,

I have been on induction for seven days as of today monday 4-18-05. I haven't lost any weight (maybe a pound or two). I did atkins b4 in fall and lost about 40 lbs and lost about 10 lbs on induction. I stopped in dec for the holidays and ended up gaining about 15 lbs back and started now again. But why am I not losing pounds on induction this time around. Also my clothes haven't gotten loser either. I eat eggs in the morning, salads for lunch, and steamed veggies and 10 oz portion of fish, chicken, or beef, grilled or baked. I am also doing at least an hour of cardio activity for an hour three times a week. Whats going on :anger I am really confused as to what is happening with my ketosis and all. Am I looking for results too soon? Should be holding out for results till the end of second week? I have been reading posts and it seems like most people see results their first week as well. Just wondering whats going on with me. Please help! Thanks!
    Saurav

Have you been drinking your water? Also, maybe you are not getting enough calories? Hopefully a moderator sees your post and could provide some useful information. Good luck!

We need some more information! :yes

Take a moment and go up into your Profile and in the signature line let us know your age, gender, height, start weight/current weight/goal weight, and that'll give us something to go on.
Also, pop down into Review My Menu and read the sticky on how to post a menu and let us know what you are eating, including the times of day that you ate it.
That'll give us a place to start from.

Are you staying within the 3 cup veggie limits for the day? Within the cheese limits? When you say 'steamed veggies', what kind of veggies...are they off the Acceptable Foods list?
Have you tried plugging your foods into www.fitday.com and seeing how your ratio's line up? Here's a link to help you with that:

You might be low on fat in your diet, and fitday will show you that.
Also, yes, drink more than the 64 oz..water is good!!

Try and squeeze in a snack between your breakfast and your lunch so you aren't going so long without eating. It doesn't have to be anything big, but a bite or two won't hurt.

Also, if you are exercising, remember you are building muscle, and muscle is heavier than fat. You might be losing fat, but building muscle at a rate that makes it appear you aren't losing.

              Hi Saurav :wave

No reason to panic, this is exactly why we recommend not using a scale at all during induction - or after for that matter (with the exception of bi weekly or monthly weigh ins)

Have you checked for inches lost? Often weightloss shows in the inches you've lost not the readings on the scale. You might want to check those and definitely put your scale away until your induction phase is over.

Are you taking an iron free multi vitamin? If not you should be and you should also be taking your essential oils and other supplements recommended by Dr. Atkins. To increase fat burning he recommends taking L-Carnitine, start with 1500 mgs a day and see how it works for you. Most of his patients moved up to 4-5,000 mgs but start at 1,500

Are you taking any medication prescription or OTC? If so please post what they are as many medications can slow down weightloss significantly.

Finally, read about Metabolic Resistance in your copy of DANDR pages 179-191, 216-217 and 259-274. There's a wealth of information in there as well as possible solutions.

Remember, every one of us is different and your body is going to respond in it's own unique way.
