  • A little frustrated

    so, ive been on the atkins for 12 days. i weighed my self sat and i have lost 12 pounds. iam excited bout that, dont get me wrong. i weighed today, 3 days later and i havent lost anymore. i know its not a big deal. but passing up on cookies, pizza, and bread is a big deal for me. i have been exercising, and drinking my water. i admit, the last 2 or 3 days i havent eaten as much vegetables. but im just a little peeved right now. im not going to give up though. i really want to lose this weight. just needed to vent.
    i can do anything!!

    Hi baby,

    12# in 12 days is really great!!! You should not be frustrated at all!!!

    Congrats on that weight loss!!!

    Have you been reading the book? Are you reading any of the many posts here? And the stickies? Where are you getting your Induction info from?There are many posts here about how this plan works from day 1 on to maintenance.
    You will lose a little more in the beginning of Induction and then it tapers off. Also you should not be weighing too often because your weight can fluctuate up and down by many pounds. And then you can get upset when the scale moves up, and get discouraged. Weight loss is a long term journey. And the Atkins WOE is not a quick fix diet, it is a long term lifelong way of eating, so it is about losing pounds, yes, but also about maintaining that weight loss for the rest of your life.

    And if you want to lose weight, you have to follow the plan. Why have you been eating less vegetables?

    And soon passing up on cookies, pizza, and bread won't be hard at all. How is your appetite? Are you cravings gone? Are you hungry?

      idk, to tell you the truth, im just not that hungry. i eat and its like, darn i need to eat again its been 5 or 6 hrs. im not complaining though. i try to eat my meat and vegs but i have to stop. i do have the book. i just am so anxious i guess. i knew the losing weight fast would taper off. i just need to get a grip. thanks!!

        So you just needed a "virtual" slap to bring you to reality???LOL!
        Really, hon, just hang in there, and have some patience.


        I am probably more than twice your age, bad knees (slows down my exercise), post menopausal, and I have lost 36#. It has slowed down some...again---age and menopause hitting me, and believe me, they both hit hard...but you are young, and it will work!

        I like Pizza and cookies, too, and I got over it!

        And really, if you need help, ask, if you need a reminder that the weight won't fall off overnight, just ask for another "virtual slap"...LOL!

            You have already lost 14% of your hoped-for loss in less than the 14 days initial induction

            That is great work you have been putting in try not to get despondent when your losses seem to stop (or even go backwards)

            Coming on here where most of us know exactly how you are feeling is the best thing to do when you feel like screaming!!

            The 'not feeling hungry' is a side effect of being in ketosis, so is another proof that you are doing things right It does mean we have to be more careful to plan so that the little food we can manage to eat will give us enough nutrition to keep our body burning fat.

            So carry on as you have been doing, eat every few hours (something with fat/protein/carbs in it) take your vitamins, drink your water and exercise and once your body realises you are serious I am sure it will co-operate in the weightloss again

            Did you take measurements when you started? sometimes we lose inches while not losing ounces!

            F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )

                and you dropped 4 more pounds 2 days later so now you can tell folk all about how weight loss isn't a linear thing. COngrats on the great job you are doing working your Atkins.
