Good to hear you are managing to keep your induction menus interesting, George

It is great to see a man taking on the food preparation and planning too The best my hubby can manage is to heat tinned rice pudding in the microwave!

Also well done on the exercise this early on your induction
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Re: induction diary

          so far none today,

we had asparagus and baby corn yesterday

is it correct you can have one portion a day of salad and one of veg?

will be having a small salad with dinner tonight though,

          typical meals are:

          bacon and eggs for breakfast

          burger with cheese for lunch

gammon and salad for dinner or burger and salad or salmon and asparagus/babycorn

both of us now have bad headaches- i have litterally lived on red bull for the last few months drinking several a day( young children , puppies dog breeder!!)

george drank alot of normal coke with caffine in ???

            >>baby corn>>

While baby corn doesn't have as much carbs as regular corn, I wouldn't have it on Induction either.

            It's still a grain.

You really need to have lots of vegetables ... it's not Atkins without the vegetables, and most of your daily net carbs should be coming from Induction vegetables.

                    Re: induction diary

                    wow thats alot of veg

ive order raddish's and celery and i eat large potabello mushrooms with cheese with a steak or anything really

this may sound stupid and forgive me if it does but i was told by a friend (not on here) that 20g of carbs is the max but the lower the better

i have been tring to keep under 15g of carbs on my first two days it was under 10 in the hope it would start my induction off with a head start is this wrong??

perhaps i should start a new thread for this as im sure im not the only one who has been told this

                      Your friend is incorrect.

                      Yes.

ok so should you aim for 20g exactly?

everyone is saying at least half from veg is this correct?

what should be the min carb intake whilst on induction?

That's why you need to read the book yourself.

Vegetables come packed with fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other phytochemicals. By trying to keep your net carbs from vegetables as low as possible, your diet is likely to be nutritionally bankrupt.

What did you use to eat pre-Atkins? If you are like most people, it wasn't plenty of nutrient-rich vegetables.

So wouldn't it be best to start giving your body what it actually needs, instead of continuing to deprive it of proper nutrition?

The overall health aspect aside... being deficient in certain nutrients can slow down your metabolism... which is certainly not something you want to happen when you are trying to lose weight!

You should aim for proper nutrition while keeping your net carbs to no more than 20.

In general, more net carbs consumed from a variety of vegetables will mean better nutrition.

You can check your vitamin and mineral intakes in FitDay, to see if you are making good choices.

Planning your menus a few days in advance really helps.

ok i see your point i should have read the book myself
but if im honest im not the best reader and seem to just skim read things

pre atkins i had alot of veg for example my bologanase (sp) had pepper onion mushroom and with kebabs we always had a large salad (covered in oil and balsamic) every meal infact had veg with it

now on atkins my veg intake is alot less but now reading the veg list you gave me the link for it will be very easy to use these in my cooking

so please explain do i need to be as close to 20g as possible without going over most of which coming from veg?
