  • I have come to the conclusion that you can't restat induction!

After being sick for a few days I thought I could "restart" induction but have come to the conclusion that it can't be done (or at least not so soon). I dropped 4 lbs in the first week, got the flu then "restarted" a few days later and haven't lost anything since and it's been a week. I have decided to learn from any mistakes I made (like eating to many proteins) and not wallow in them, eating different salad veggies and trying some new "legal" foods. As well I am going to start a blog. It took me many years to develop bad habits and gain weight so I can't expect it to magically fall off.

    Thanks for listening.

A lot of the initial rapid loss (pre-ketosis) is water weight. The glycogen that you are removing before you can start ketosis holds a lot of water which is heavy. If you start eating carbs again you will replace the glycogen with its water. This is one reason you hear people say they stopped low carb and "I immediately gained a lot of weight." If you have not replaced all the glycogen stores "being bad" you would not expect to see another big loss the first few days when you restart.

If you mean that you cannot expect to re-lose the 'water weight' that many people lose when starting induction for the first time then I agree.
This is the reason we advise people that if they make a bad choice and say they will start again at day one of their 14 days that they should just continue counting the 14 days as if they had stayed on plan.

But there is no reason you cannot restart eating induction after choosing to eat offplan for one meal or for many days.
The results you get will not help you establish your metabolic resistance to weight loss from the chart in DANDR anything like as accurately as if you had managed 14 straight days on plan from the start, but you can still get back into the losing mode.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
