  • today's the day 2-1-10 induction .see my progress

    hello todays the day i start induction. i just had my lunch and i have to say im still hungry lol. i have never been so excited to go on a diet. maybe its because i have never prepared for one like this. i did what the book said. i got my blood work done sat and went shopping after for food. pigged out on sunday sorry it was my farwell to all the bad food i eat
    anyway im officially on it. i am just confused on the whole portion thing. i am having trouble measuring or maybe im shocked at how much i should have been eating instead of what i was eating lol any tips would be apreciated

    breakfast i had a 2 egg omlete with 1 slice of cheese in it.

    snack i had a 1oz string cheese.

    lunch i had salad. romain lettuce 1 cup 1/2 and 3 tbsp of ceaser dressing with label that says no carbs with 1oz cheese and chicken. the lettuce seams to be small though is that right or can i have more lettuce

    for dinner i will be having a chicken breast with broccoli.

    and of course lots of water..

    any comments on what i am eating

    first goal 299/ 2nd goal 285/ 3rd goal 265/ 4th not sure

    Welcome Strong. I know you will do great. Limit your cheese to no more than 4oz per day. And drink a minimum of 64oz of water.

    I use to measure with a measuring cup, but I invested like $4 (discount outlet) on a food scale, and turns out I was way off, so now I measure on the scale.

    As long as you drink your water, water water... you tend to feel full throughout the day. Good Luck. And keep us posted.

      You don't write quantities for everything, but just by looking at your menu, it seems to me you are seriously undereating.

      And you can add more veggies to that salad, preferably not lettuce. Add some bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes. It's more nutritious that way.

        THANKS that was going to be another question when it says we can have 2 cups from a certain section of the introductory list. it is two cups combined right like 1/2 cup lettuce 1/4 broccoli 1/4 cucumber is that right

          You could also have 2 cups of peppers, if you want.

          Just make sure you are using a reliable carb counter or online tool (FitDay, the USDA database) to calculate the net carbs.

            Welcome to the Atkins diet bulletin Strong!

            Im Liz! I too started induction today. I was on it last week but i messed up with OVEREATING SALADS and drinking too much coffee w/ cream So I think i'll try the FitDay carb counter to facilitate induction. I've never tried it so i hope it works. I think you should try it as well, to avoid any mishaps.

              What do you mean by "OVEREATING SALADS"? Did you go over 20 net carbs? If you did, by how much?

              And how much cream were you consuming?

              Drinking too much coffee is not a reason to restart Induction, imo.

              So I think i'll try the FitDay carb counter to facilitate induction.
              I'm in Pre-Maintenance and I still use it daily.

                Actually for the whole day you can have a total of 3 cups of vegetables from the 2 lists

                You can have either 3 cups from the first list (salad vegetables) which includes peppers, celery, cucumbers, radishes, jicama, mushrooms, all sorts of lettuces and some other stuff.
                Or
                You can have 2 cups from the first list plus 1 cup from the second list (other vegetables) which includes brocolli, cauliflower, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, rhubarb, pumpkin and some others.

                Check chapter 11 of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) for the complete lists

                Then after the first 2 weeks you can add 5 net carbs of any from the two lists which could be a giantic bowl of lettuce or a more reasonable amunt of the others depending on their individual carb counts s!!

                  5 net carbs of "lettuce" would be about 12 cups.

                    That's not likely to be truly 0 carbs, by the way.

                    If any of the ingredients have carbs, then the end result can't be 0 carbs.

                      Day 2

                      Thanks for all the input. I will try to eat a little more today. I had the worst headache that I have ever had last night maybe because I needed more food.
                      Ok here is the weirdest thing I got on the scale this morning and I was 327.9 that’s almost 5lbs In a day I’m just thinking the scale was wrong on my initial scale lol I re weighed myself about 4 times all came out the same. Another thing was when I woke up in the morning I was not tired it felt like I was well rested. For months no matter what time I went to bed I could not get up in the morning because I was so tired and today I jumped up and was ready to go. I hope tomorrow is the same.
                      Just ate breakfast

                      2 eggs 3 slices bacon and I slice cheese with 2 cups of water I feel ok.

                      For lunch I have a chicken Caesar salad again this time I’m adding ½ cup broccoli and ½ cup cucumbers I cup romaine lettuce and dressing I’m still confused on the dressing if it says no carbs do I still count it as 1 carb per serving?

                      Not sure for dinner yet.
