Hi thanks for that, so besides having to boil the meat etc to get stock is there another way. Any shop made stock I can buy in the UK ?

Knorr Stock Pot have no artificial flavour enhancers, one stock pot contains 5 calories and 0.2g of carbs of which 0.1g are sugars.

Chef Marco Pierre White says he uses them on the tv ads if you can believe them lol. They are widely available in all the big supermarkets in the UK.

I normally make my own stock but use these as well.

Just be careful with words like natural and flavour enhancers - it there is no regulation as to how these words can be used - manufacturers tend to throw them out there because generally consumers are lazy and do not read ingredients. I am thinking knorr uses sugar as an ingredient (it is natural) but I am not sure.

The ingredients:

Water, salt, vegetables in varying proportions (14.1%) (carrots, leek, bell pepper, celeriac), vegetable fats and oils, sugar, yeast extract, herbs (parsley, lovage) Thickeners (xanthan gum, locust bean gum) Flavourings (contains mustard), Spices (celery seed, nutmeg, pepper, fenugreek) Colour ( burnt sugar caramel) Maltodextin.


Well what you think Liv, is there anything there that we should not take whilst doing Atkins?

Burnt sugar caramel ... yumm..

Maltodextin ... generally corn based ... and a form of sugar.

The 2nd ingredient is salt ...

One would do better do buy a liquid. Or make one's own.

They are actually in a concentrated liquid forum and come in a little pot.

So even at 6 calories a pot they are a no, no.

I will stick so with making my own stock but as I said they do come in handy when you have nothing else.

Would they be okay to use later on when doing OWL?
