  • I need criticism...

    Ok.. I started induction last Sunday 1/24. I started at 168, and am now stuck at 164. I LOVE the way I feel on this diet, but I'm getting discouraged because I'm stuck. Trust me, the temptations have almost gotten the best of me to where I just say, "If I'm not losing, them I'm quitting". (It may also be water retention at this point... if you understand?) I eat my turkey bacon in the morning, usually either a chicken breast and a bit of broccoli for lunch, I snack on string cheese (1-2 sticks a day), and then my dinner is usually a pretty sad salad... I love lettuce, so I don't add too much to it, or some nights I'll just do turkey, a hamburger (bigger sized), or a chicken breast. Why am I not losing? My 2 weeks is almost up and I've only seen the 5 pounds in the first week!! I'm seriously debating on trying something different...

    5 pounds is good. You don't list how much you started out and how much you currently weigh. It looks like you are not eating enough vegetables. Also, what is your water intake like? You need to drink at least 64 oz of water daily. Also, do you have and read DANDR 2002?

      Yeah, I was happy at first. I started at 168 and now it varies between 163 and 164 and I'm only on day 10 of induction. I absolutely HATE veggies!! lol I love lettuce, and eat a lot of it, but I can't bring myself to eat anything else, really. I drink nothing but water and then I LOVE that powerade zero. I think that I could drink more water... I don't know what the DANDR 2002 is?

        That will make it very difficult to do Atkins.

        Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 copyright) ... the book you read before you started doing Atkins ... so you would know what's involved.

          Ummm ... remember, the title of this topic that YOU created is called "I need criticism".

          You asked questions ... you got answers.

          I imagine you're upset because they weren't the answers you wanted?

            No, they were the answers I wanted. I didn't want MEAN criticism. Which is the sarcasm and attitude I'm getting from you. I'm taking the criticism and trying it out. That's exactly what I asked for. I didn't want some psycho attacking me.. sheesh Thank you!

              How much are you trying to lose? I ask because during Induction, most people lose 5-10% of the total weight they want to lose...I have way more to lose than you, and I only lost 8 pounds during the first 14 days, for example.

                Where are you getting your info on how to follow Atkins?

                It seems as if your info is lacking on how to follow Successfully.

                You will not lose weight every day, or even every week.

                It is not just eating more vegetables, there are certain guidelines to follow.

                Lettuce is probably the least nutritious vegetable. And you will never get enough required veggie carbs from only eating lettuce. Chceck out some of the recipe sites below for veggie prep ideas.

                  I'm trying to lose about another 30 lbs. I realize after some research that I think I'm not strict enough about what I'm eating, and you're right, I definitely don't eat enough veggies. I just decided to try it from talking to friends. I'm completely uneducated other than what they've told me. I did get on the Atkins site for a little more information. I do want to say thank you two for your positive feedback/support. I had another girl that was literally attacking me.

                        It's very brave of you to admit you don't fully understand Atkins. My first go around (years ago), I didn't either. I did it completely blindly and failed miserably...and added about 50 pounds over a few years. The fact that you're seeing this now instead of years from now is really special. I'd really recommend buying Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (copyright 2002) from a local thrift store, eBay, or Amazon. You can get it for under a dollar at a thrift store, or under five dollars shipped online. Believe me, it's worth the small investment - you'll see that the people most successful with this diet (and by that I mean maintaining, too) purchased and read the book.

                          I agree -
                          many of us start fumbly - I certainly did. Did not have a friggen idea of what I was doing

                          I think your menu lacks veggies and fat. Check out the links from Mary and if you have chance get the book. It is a really great help.

                            Here, I want to show you something:



                            This is my Wii Fit graph for the first few months of Atkins (this time). I frequently weighed daily, and each weighing is a green/blue dot. Notice that they fluctuate slightly, but the overall trend is downward. So, just remember, you won't always lose every single day!

                              looks like you aren't getting enough fat or veggies, and you should stay away from energy drinks.

                              a word for the wise: you are posting on an internet forum.. you'll need to grow a bit of a tougher skin if you want to survive. criticism is what you asked for and that is what you got. She was merely answering the questions, not attacking you personally.
