  • Will these medications blow it?

    Hi:

The plan for me was to start the Atkins induction phase today. However, I'm worried that the medications I take might sabotage my efforts.

I take 5 mg of Abilify and 20 mg of Lexapro daily. My concern is that the medications contain starch which would prevent me from going into ketosis [the goal of induction]. The medication boxes don't tell me whether or not they contain starch.

Also, the B-complex pills I take daily contain croscarmellose which is a carbohydrate. I'm not sure whether this carb will ruin my induction. Will it?

    Thanks,

and just how big are those pills?

you need your medication so swallow then and you can keep things honest by adding a gram of carbs for each one tot your toals.

When Dr Atkins was taking about medications interferring with weight loss it was referring to the specific meds listed have a mtabolic impact on the person.

So you don't know if they have starch... just guessing?

Aren't the active and non-active ingredients listed?

Anyway, whether or not your medication contains starches, you should keep taking it.
