  • 4 days and 5 lbs lighter

    Hey everyone,

Just thought I would share my beginning induction timeline. Hopefully, this will keep up. However, I think I'll wait a few day and a good BM before I weigh myself again. Don't want to get disappointed. Where is all this food going?!

Thank God for Oprah in allowing us to talk openly about pooping!

Hunger is finally coming under control. Yeah! My mouth tastes like metal, so I guess I've hit ketosis. Not going to bother with the sticks. I understand they are not alway reliable.

I'm taking that psyllium husk stuff to move my bowels, but it does not seem to help much. Any other suggestions?

    Good job on losing.
Are you eating veggies, drinking water and exercising - those help with movement for me.

Re: 4 days and 5 lbs lighter

Unfortunately, I have some health problems that prevent me from excercising. I've been a bit more strict on my carb intake in my induction period. I will add more vegetables when finished and remain on an extended induction period (with vegetables). No choice. My triglycerides were 965!

Think I'll purchase a bottle of magnesium citrate today. That should do the trick (which means I better remain within arms reach of the bathroom). Bet I'll lose 5 pounds after that!

This diet is a rescue thing for me. Did not have the time to do the proper research.

If it is your health - you should take the time. If you lose that, well then all the time in the world is not going to help you

Sorry if wasn't clear. I don't have time to dilly dally. I have to lose this weight quickly. So I am very commited; as the benefits of losing weight out weigh any potential damage from the diet. Thats what the doc says anyways.

Thanks for your concern, but I will trudge forward and make this happen.

There are many unhealthy ways to lose weight on. Many people pick Atkins because they think that they just eat bacon and cheese and weight will fall off and then they can start eating at MacDonalds again or something. They really do not like it when we tell them it includes plenty of vegetables, water and exercise and most of all plans about how to develop a long term sustainable eating systm. Healthy they cannot do. Quick fixes they are all about. So I am glad you are emphasizing health. But the body will do what it will do - it that is not quick so be it. Eat your greens - drink your water.

I totally agree. I will keep posting my progress. Next month I get my lipids profiled again. That will be the tell all.

I have quite an interesting history that led me to my weight gain. When I reach my goal, I will post my "testimony" (sounds soo religous). Then you will understand my haste at getting this weight off.

I'm off to Wally World to buy my magnesium citrate.

I seriously notice a harder time with BM's when i don't eat my vegies...I also lose weight better when I have my salads. Not sure why that is, but it works for me...I used to think only curtailing the carbs would make me lose all the weight..I have since learned that its a balance, and that its a high fat, moderate protein, low carb lifestyle, and that eating vegies is seriously important for faster weight loss. Well, at least thats what works for me.

It may take longer than that for your levels to come down, but if you stick it out they will drop.

I was having a similar problem. I had a pumpkin eggnog shake and the natural fiber in it did the trick. I would try that first, if you like pumpkin.

I know you are probably most right. I kinda took a zero carb approach. I know, I know........most people are against that here. But again, I will be adding vegetables (cause you are right) on my extended induction.

You are also right about another thing.....it's what works for you and all the different metabolisms out there. Sometimes what "YOU" believe works will come to fruition. Because you believe it.

Good luck to you and thanx for your response.

I like pumpkin, but not so much the eggnog. Wonder if pumpkin seeds would do the same thing?

Thanx for the helpful reply. I will look into that.

Seeds are a rung 3 food.
Maybe pumpkin mixed with cream cheese - I love that stuff.

I don't like the regular eggnog shake much but the pumpkin one just tasted like pumpkin. We tossed in some nutmeg too for seasoning. The only thing I would change is the 1/2 cup water it calls for. Between that and the ice cubes it made it way too runny, tasted watered down. Next one I'll make with 1/4 or no water, don't think it's needed. I'd rather have it thick and a real pumpkin taste.

Haven't tried the pumpkin and cream cheese. That might be next. Although that may make me want to snack so maybe not.

Just an update. Bought and drank the magnesium citrate. Worked like a charm. Still feeling the rumblings in my gut and a bit bloated. I expected it to be explosive, but not having eaten any carbs...it was as gentle as Metamucil.

And yes...I'm drinking plenty of water.
