going 4 job at Starbucks; they make you taste all coffees!

I really need a job NOW. My resume skills are all over the place and I want to take a job at Starbucks.

First of all, the training at Starbucks is INTENSE for this low paying job. I have been reading they hand you a huge booklet to memorize all the different coffee combinations, ect.

Starbucks trains their employees intesley and also wants you to try and taste all the drinks!


If I take this job and during training they want me to try these drinks what do I do?

I never even liked sugar in my coffee to begin with as I liked coffee black, no sugar.

What do I do if they ask me during the training process to taste the drinks?

Has anyone ever worked at Starbucks on this forum?

My sis was a manager at Starbucks for a while. I think what you've heard about training is correct that you are tasting. It's good that you can take your coffee black. I don't think you are drinking cups and cups of the coffee all in one day. IIRC it was something like 2 per day so it may not derail you.

There was a huge notebook and tests but that may have been because she was a manager. I thought it was neat that they invested so much into training. Wish more companies would do that.

Ok just talked to her. She said you do the tastings at your own pace and that it's like a wine tasting. 3oz sample cup and you don't have to swallow it. They want to know what it tastes like on your tongue. Her suggestion - go slow and just sip.

She said you will have to learn the difference between a good espresso shot and a bad one. That's done through tasting.

since you only have to taste it you could spit it out and not swallow.
