  • defatted soy

I have been on a very clean induction for 4 days with great results and have no reason to cheat. However today I was cooking some burgers and added some Spike salt free spice. After I added it I looked at the ingredients and saw the first ingredient was deffated soy. I have read the book several times and some opinions on the internet is that certain soys are o.k. I was wondering if anyone has used Spike before and ask for any opinions on this matter.

I have not used it. You just used spice amounts right? It is not going to matter. Spices are not particularly clean products for the most part but are allowed in small amounts.

What else is in the spice mix? I've found that many spice mixtures contain dextrose or some other kind of sugar.

The only soy product allowed during Induction is tofu.

        That one is pretty "clean"

        According to the WWW:
Defattted nutrisoy granules, granular toasted onion, nutritional yeast,
granular garlic, celery root granules, ground dill, horseradish granules,
mustard powder, lemon peels, orange powder, parsley flakes, red bell peppers,
green bell peppers, white cate pepper, rose hips powder, summer savory,
mushroom powder, safflower, parsley powder, white onion powder, spinach
powder, tomato powder, sweet hungarian paprika, ground celery seed, cayenne
pepper, ground tumeric, ground cumin, ground ginger, ground corriander,
ground fenugreek, ground cloves, cinnamon powder, plus a delightful herbal
bouquet of the best greek oregano, french tarragon, french sweet basil,
french marjoram, french rosemary and spanish thyme.

            Hi Brian
Really the only way to tell is is affecting your losing progress should you experience problems losing or get some of the 'blood sugar symptoms' Dr Atkins listed would be to try a few weeks without it and see

However all the other ingredients in it (apart from the rose hip) seem 'induction-legal' to me, so as long as you are using only a little of it you may well be fine.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
