    hello everyone

i am feeling quite down... i just cant seem to shift my weight... i used to do atkins before... a few years ago, with the books etc and lost a lot of weight buut now after being on it for years i have gone back to 'normal' eating and my body ballooned. i need to go back to the atkins diet but have now lost all my will power... sigh... somehow i believe that i wont e ver be able to get rid of all this weight again.... its a vicious circle...
i have been on the induction week for 2 days now and have just noticed how people have said not to drink unsweetened soya milk in the first week... well... that toatlly knocked me again because i have soya milk with my tea in the morning [two or three cups of tea]
so i guess all my effort was for nothing the last two days?
sorry if i sound so down... just really could do with some support... i just get so down so easily if i get something wrong on this diet because i know only a tiny bit of something 'bad' can stop the weightloss.. and worse... make you put weight on!

Can someone tell me how bad it is to have organic unsweetened soya milk?
On the carton it reads 0.3 g carbs per 100 ml which sugars [whatever that means!] o.3 g carbs...
i thought that was ok? bbut i am now totally confused after reading soya milk is not so good in the first phase...

Soy milk is not allowed on Induction phase. Soy milk is made by grinding soybeans, adding water, then straining the "milk".

So save the soy milk for the On-Going Weight Loss phase.

As for even a tiny bit of food being able to derail you....yes, that is a possibility. That is why it is important to follow the Acceptable Foods List strictly.

It's not only the first week. Which edition of the book did you read? Was it 1972? You should read the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution.

so i guess all my effort was for nothing the last two days?
No, it was not "for nothing". Stop the soy milk for now and add it back on the appropriate OWL rung.

i just get so down so easily if i get something wrong on this diet
Reading the book (or rereading it) will help you avoid mistakes caused by lack of knowledge.

Can someone tell me how bad it is to have organic unsweetened soya milk?
You can use cream in your tea.

      i thought that was ok?
Induction is not only about keeping your net carbs under 20. You should be following the Rules of Induction:

        Re: organic unsweetened soya milk

welcome back. induction is about learning how to control our food choices to be healthy, detoxing our bodies, controlling our appetite, and seeing great results from getting into Atkins ketosis.

Part of that making healthy choices is about learning to set limits on what we pick and how much so following the rules is an important thing. Allowing Dr Atkins to say eat only this and then controlling our wants to eat only that will go a long way to helping us control the I wants when high carb foods come calling.

While if you were doing a 92 DANDR ATKINS using soya milk would be legal ADBB follows the 2002 version so everybody here will say you are cheating using it for induction and should save it for ther legumes rung of OWL.

                Re: organic unsweetened soya milk

                Hi,

I also am in the Induction phase (day 4) of the 'New Atkins New You' diet and have also been drinking unsweetened plain soya milk. Having only just bought the book 'New Atkins New You' (currently being advertised on this site and in the Daily Mail) the book has included it as part of the ACCEPTABLE FOODS LIST it states that it is fine for the induction - page 100 - but looking at the different posts on this I am now thinking this is a typo in the book - can someone please help?!!!

                Starting to lose heart!

At ADBB we are following the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution. Soy milk is not allowed in the 2002 plan, but it's okay in the 2010 plan.

Georgiana, thanks again, my partner is doing this with me and (having not read any of the book) clearly had time on his hands at work to search Soya Milk and then send us into a panic. Sorry for the confusion and many thanks for the quick reply... Y

                      >>have gone back to 'normal' eating a>>

Hopefully you'll see that Atkins is normal eating.
