  • 4th time on Atkins

Well here we go again, This is probably my fourth serious attempt at doing Atkins, the first time i tried it i lost about 17lbs in about 3 weeks, the second time i wasn't able to get through induction all the way but was averaging about 1lb a day, the third time i stopped after about 4 days, so now here i am, as willing and confident as ever, day 4 in, but dont feel the usual fatigue feeling, the constant hunger feeling, i have lost 1lb, is this cause for concern? has my body adjusted to this and increased the effectiveness of Atkins, i'm certain my foods are within the limits of what i can eat, i just dont have the physical feeling i had the first time around, should i continue or move to a different approach. I was expecting the same rapid loss but dont see it or feel it?

    Re: 4th time on Atkins

    Hi and Welcome back!

First of all, what happens now can't be compared to your precious attempts, since that was before...

...and before anyone can answer questions properly---

*It helps everyone answer your questions better if you put your info in your signature so it can be seen everytime you post.
*Click the "profile" button at the top of the forum and then set up your signature with the following: start weight/current weight/goal weight also----height, start date, is helpful as well as age and sex.

*None of this is required, just helps us help you.)

You will not always have the same reactions to Induction as you did before, and not the same as others. Do you know why you kept starting and stopping Atkins before? Is there something you can do to change what stopped you before? How can WE help?

Also, I think you need to give it more than 4 days to see how it works for you. No eating plan is going to provide a miracle after only 4 days...LOL!

You can also provide your menu for others to look at, are you using Fitday.com to track your foods? You can make that public so your menu can be evaluated. Are you following the rules of: Dr. Atkins in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 ed

They more info you provide us, the more advice you can receive back.
    Have a great Atkins day!

Well in truth i'm not expecting my physique to change in 4 days, that would be ridiculous. I guess i'm just mostly commenting on the difference in how my body feels. The first time i did this i felt way different on day 4. I had induction flu for sure, this time around however i feel really good, almost as if im eating carbs, although i'm not. Even te last time i did this i was already down 4lbs on the 4th day, oh well ill let you know where i am in 10 more days.

        Cavenmac-

Are you avoiding carbs all together? You are not eating carbs? Or do you mean you are not eating "junk" carbs?

Wow, I swear i passed grade 12 english. Forgive the confusion, i eat carbs (usually under 20 per day)

a typical day for me is:

2 eggs scrambled/ green tea (breakfast)

          2 pepperoni sticks (snack)

2 cups of salad with 2 tablespoons of Dressing (oil) (lunch)

          1/2 cucumber

          2 chicken breast (dinner)

          Pepperoni chips (Snack)

i also drink about 6-8 glasses of water daily

You look to be eating to little fat. Run your menu through FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and see if you are getting around 65% of your calories from fat. We need that to get comfortable into ketosis.
Another thing are those pepperoni chips. They can be a bit of staller - too much salt and sugar. Maybe eat a bit more for breakfast - have some boiled eggs if you need a snakc.

I would get rid of the pepperoni ... it's most likely got sugar, and it's very processed.

You're not really eating enough food for one day.

And you're certainly not drinking enough water ... a good goal would be 1/2 your current body weight in ounces of water.

Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution?

Does your "salad" have more than just lettuce?
