  • So I had a bad judgement call yesterday...

So I came down with a real nasty head cold yesterday, the whole deal, sore throat, runny nose, headache like someone hitting me with a brick, and needless to say, I was weak. I only ate one thing all day, and unfortunately, it was not acceptable. It was bread, and a lot of it. Not just bread, but I'm talking breaded foods, and fried stuff. Its the ONLY thing that sounded good to me.

So, put aside the fact I cheated, and feel free to tear into me, but this morning I decided to check the scale.

    I still lost 2 lbs.

I used ketostix, and I'm still in ketosis. Did I luck out? I probably consumed close to 200 carbs yesterday (like I said, I ate a lot). Granted, it was the only thing I ate?

This morning back on Atkins, but I want to know, did I get lucky? Does it take a few days for that to affect me? What can I expect? I felt like **** that I cheated, I don't know if the stomach ache was the sickness, the guilt, or the carbs.

    Thanks everyone

Hard to say with those sticks. Sometimes they just give you some weird result one way or the other. The weight gain (if it is to come) may still happen. Although if I did that I would gain 5 lbs in two minutes.

I don't want to sound too harsh (and if you have an easily bruised ego stop reading now )

But lucky is not the word I would use. You broke your resolve and gorged on a really carby item. It is not great for what you are trying to accomplish here. That resolve that we all need to build up on Atkins take time and care and staminia - you just gave yourself a set back here.
And my other (not so nice point) is that you are using a somewhat lame excuse for this. People go through a lot worse without carb binging.

But I think it is really great that you are back. I will be cheering for you.

Hope you are feeling better and very glad you realize where you went wrong. The next time you are sick or not feeling well you will know what to watch for in terms of craving. There are a couple of good threads I've seen on the board about being sick and this WOE. The info there may just save you next time.

      Good luck!

        No, you didn't "luck out".

What you're seeing is how unreliable the sticks are!

You had this stuff in the house?

Also, keep in mind that the scale doesn't reflect what happened "yesterday" ... it often takes a day or two to show up on the scale.

So don't be surprised if (or when) you have a bounce up.
