Guys help me I'm feeling guilty cause today there was a party and my friends pushed me to eat rice (about 4 spoons) and soup of meat and bean and today is my fourth day and right now I'm feeling sad because I ate this meal and I read in atkins book that if I fail in the first week I'm preparing my self for the big failure so what should I do? do I continue my diet normally or I stop and begin tomorrow from the beginning (from the first day) or any thing else just help me please and thank you

Did they threat to harm you if you didn't?

You continue. One cheat is not an excuse to cheat for the whole day. Make your next meal Induction-friendly.

        Re: help me

It is a learning process and learning how to deal with situations is just part of it. I agree that is not very easy. But I guess in the end I have decided to tell people I am avoiding certain items to lose weight and stay healthy and my friends are fine with it. I always bring itmes to gathering that are good for me to eat but that I also share with everyone.

You are doing just fine hang in there. And I had some big misses on my induction but I made it to goal just fine. Because I new I would.

Don't avoid social time with friends. Just prepare yourself before and them. Let them know you are doing this for you and it's important to you. That you need their support. No one forced you to eat, it was a choice you made and next time you can choose a better choice.

Why not take a veggie tray to the next party so you have something to snack on. Or if it's a long party with a meal prepare an Atkins friendly casserole or something.

            Good suggestions, poobears

And, usama, if you dont want to tell your friends you are on the Atkins way of eating, just say "I am trying to eat more healthily and dropping starches and sugars from my food options for the present"
Starches would include flour, rice, beans and the high GI vegetables like potatoes!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

You chose to cheat (no one "pushed" you to) because what you thought your friends would have thought had you not eaten beans and rice was more important to you, at that moment at least, than your health and weight. Now you are promising me, someone you don't even know, that you are not going to cheat again. You should promise this to yourself, not to me, because whether or not you cheat again makes no difference to anyone else but you.

Beans can be added back in OWL Rung 6... rice in OWL Rung 9... and you can enjoy parties without eating beans and grains at all.

Poobears made some good suggestions there.

                Re: help me

                Usama,

We all have reasons why we make the choices that we make. If you have made the decision to make this WOE a part of you life and you are dedictaed to losing the weight....then no one can stop you or "MAKE" you feel like you should do something. Life is a learning process and so is this diet. You need figure out why you are choosing this WOE, write down your goals, learn from your mistakes and forge ahead.

A confession........I was trapped in my house all week with two massive snowstorms that hit the DC area. On Tuesday of this week, I ate a massive amount of chocolate souffle. My "Excuses" I had not eaten all day becuase I was shoveling snow, My four young kids, three and under, were driving me up the wall and "it" was sitting there on the counter all warm and sweet. I thought I could try a few bites and then I ended up eating most of it. At first I got extremely upset, because this was the first time on this WOE that I had cheated. But.....I calmed down and I knew that I could get right back on track, mentally that is, by running on the treadmill for an hour. Too many people look at this diet as a quick fix and they are the ones that become yo-yo dieters. The "true" Atkiners are on this board and they know this is a lifestyle and not a diet.

My annoyingly long winded response in summation......Learn to be prepared for different siutations and learn from any mistakes. Go to parties and live your life, this WOE has to be a part of your life or you will never change. Maybe next time you could eat beforehand or, do as they mentioned before, and bring foods that you know you can eat. If you are strong enough, and you feel like you are being judged, put a small amount of starches on your plate and just move them around instead of eating them.

                Good Luck, keep going!
