  • Yayyyy-losing weight!

Day 4 and have lost another pound! Four pounds in total....early days but seems like it's working so feeling very motivated at the moment

Had Portabella mushroom 'pizza' for breakfast, generous knob of butter dollop of homemade pesto, cheddar cheese and a slice of tomato, under the grill for 10 minutes. Made a change from eggs!

Spanish chicken casserole with green beans for dinner-can of chopped tomatoes, chilli flakes, black olives, smoked paprika salt and pepper, yeast free veggie stock. Very tasty.

    Any more recipes gratefully received

That is super great. Your pesto did not have grains in it?

Anyways since this is not an intro post I am shipping you over to the induction forum.

      Thanks Liv-newbie-duh!

Pesto didn't have grains in, just olive oil, basil, parmesan cheese and seasoning. Have got to try hard to keep the brekkies interesting-I love eggs but as I'd like to do induction for upto 8 weeks max (or until I find I need to move up) eggs every day would make me bored and tempt me to cheat. Although with the weight shifting it may not be that long before I move to OWL.

Have just bought a low carb cookbook with some really inspiring recipes in, will they be suitable for OWL?

Depends on the ingredients in them when in OWL they are allowed.

Are you reading the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution?

Hi Georgiana, yes latest version of the book, need to print out a carb counter to be sure that recipes in low carb cookbook are suitable I guess.

What do you think of the Atkins bars and shakes? Are they OK to use or are they best avoided?

That, too... but you need to check the ingredients. For example, if a recipe has almonds, it can be used in OWL Rung 3, but not in the first two rungs. If it has soy beans, it can be used in OWL Rung 6 and beyond, but not before.

You can look up carb counts in the USDA database:

Remember to subtract fiber to get net carbs.

And you can use FitDay to track your foods:

Best avoided. Eat real food instead.

Thanks Georgiana, ate two today instead of lunch (very bad) then threw the rest of the box I had away just to be safe!
