  • So mad!!!

i can freely swear that this has not happened to me EVER...like about half an hour ago i went crazy!!!! LITERALLY
my dad just came from my native country, and i went to welcome him, and he bought a WHOLE BUNCH of sweets with him....My day had started very good i woke up with a solemn face and the drive to actually carry the 2nd time of my start of induction. I had tried the day before yesterday to achieve this but i couldn't. Today or rather yesterday (the day i woke with a solemn face) I ate a lot of protein, and a whole rack of vegetables, i slipped a little with the jello but overall it was crazy good, too good to be true, and i was right. Well as soon as my dad came in and saw all the beautiful chocolate that i havent tasted in YEARSSS, i just blew everything i had built for myself in less than a second. The next thing i know i was eating 5 different types of chocolate and pastries. Good Lord, WHY?????...so for the second or third time, i will try again tomorrow (or today), but this time for REAL, i will do this better than ever with no slips whatsoever and make the induction rules my life i will eat, breathe, and love it and nourish it; but if anything ANYTHING goes wrong....i dont know maybe ill do this x1000000000000 literally

    Re: So mad!!!

Hey......take a deep breath in, hold it.....now let it out.

Okay, so you know that the sweets your Dad brought were your downfall. So sit back and think of what you can do now to get those sweets out of the house (or out of your sight!)

If you can't do that, think of ways to distract yourself from those sweets. For example, if you "hear them calling", go out for a walk; do some simple exercises like push ups or sit ups; take Dad out of the house and sight see; etc. Do something (other than eating them of course ) to get you away from those things.

Tomorrow is Monday. So bring them with you to the office to share with your co-workers.

It's a good idea to develop these coping strategies because things like this happen. For Christmas, I got a bucket of chocolates from a relative. It's not what I wanted, but then....that size 24 W skirt that would have fit me when I started Atkins I got from another relative wasn't what I wanted either, but that's another story. So start devising ways to cope with these situations.

Make sure your next meal is an Atkins meal.

Make it TODAY - do not wait till tomorrow to get back on track
but if anything ANYTHING goes wrong....
If anything does do wrong (= if you choose to eat something off-plan) you cannot allow yourself to say 'well I've blown it for today so I might as well eat *** and **** and ***** today and start again tomorrow' .
Maybe you do need to literally to wake your mind up to the fact that you have decided to eat Atkins induction now and continue to choose induction-legal foods the very next bite.

I am glad that today has gone well so far

Have you got some 'legal' foods and snacks prepared and available for if you suddenly get the urge to eat offplan?

            Re: So mad!!!

You've gotten some really good advice. Work/School is a great way to get rid of things that others may have given you that isn't legal. I do this most often after Halloween. My son hates chocolate (yep, you heard me) so I'd be left with his loot - a big bag of chocolate. The first few years it was all mine but I learned a trick after my first time on Atkins. People in office buildings will eat anything if you put it on a breakroom table. This typically works in dorms as well. So like they said, put the sweets out of sight for now and grab them when you leave for the day tomorrow.

When I restarted this time, my DANDR came to my rescue more times than I can count. Every time I had a craving, I'd grab a legal snack and read the book. Something about the success stories and the science of it all helped me through those cravings.

If you can make it to around day 5-7 you'll notice some of the cravings are already starting to subside. Definitely makes that second week tolerable. After that, you are ready to roll and will have established a plan for those unexpected treats and cravings.

Best of luck and enjoy your visit with your Dad!

Hey! Dont beat yourself up!! Just get back on the wagon and remember how good it feels each day you do good. And it gets easier!! I just blew my induction this weekend due to some unfortunate circumstances after 8 days of doing good! I feel like **** about it, but I got up this morning with my mind back in it, and came here and posted a thread asking for some advice and support from the good people here. We all have slips, we just have to learn from them!
