  • Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

I know I sound crazy but I eat butter alone sometimes, like sliced cheese! I do that if I get hungry and want something creamy. I do add the amounts to Fitday.

I know fat is a good thing on this program, but will this be TOO MUCH fat?

    Does anyone else do this?
On Induction since: Jan 25th 2010

Hard to know if it's too much fat ... it's a matter of how much other fat you're having, too.

well it is about 99 percent fat i believe which is what people eat on the kekwick diet-- but in theory if you ate just butter it is considered to be a fat fast and if you are not metabolic resistant it is considered dangerous

        Kline1972,

I don't think the OP mean that all they were eating was butter.

I think they mean they ate it without it being on anything ... sort of by the spoonful, or off the knife.

And I took the question as meaning would eating butter add too much fat to his/her day.

hahaha, no, I am not JUST eating butter! hahaha that was funny. lol

I was wondering if anybody has ever done that? like a few pieces during the day? (not everyday but sometimes!)

is having too much fat bad if your on 20 g's of carb a day?

sometimes I am hungry and want to satisfy my cravings..

            (it sounds bad, doesn't it?)

I eat cream cheese alone, so it's not much different than butter.

i just try to follow the guidelines of dr atkins- but i eat fats liberally - atkins is not a high protein diet- it is a high fat diet and this produces the ketogenic effect- pure butter sure sounds disgusting however

lol... ok good, I felt embarrassed! although I have noticed that if I can't have too much since my stomach gets cramped after too much. I don't know why that is?

Cream cheese, can you actually have that on induction?
what is the calories, carb count and fat per serving?

(how much cream cheese are you limited to on induction?)

Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

I used to eat butter when I was a kid, it really grossed out my mom. I'd munch it right off the stick! Thinking about doing that now is nauseating lol.

That and putting mayonnaise on crackers.....for breakfast. My poor mother

If I remember correctly, isn't butter listed as one of the unlimited foods? I don't have my book handy, but I do know that we don't have to count fat grams, only carbs.

I don't think twice about using a couple tablespoons throughout the day to saute, I really don't see the nutritional difference if it's eaten by itself.
3 years ago, I lost 60 pounds in 12 weeks on Atkins.
I have PCOS, which makes my weight REALLY sensitive to carb intake, and I've gained back most of it since going off plan.

Around 80% is the highest I've ever seen.

Not exactly. To be Fat Fast, calories would need to be restricted to 1000.

While we don't need to count calories on Atkins, overeating calories will slow down our weight loss or even cause us to gain weight.

sometimes I am hungry and want to satisfy my cravings..
Are you hungry or are you craving foods? It's usually not the same thing.

Fat has a natural diuretic effect.

Are you reading the book? The Acceptable Foods List for Induction is in Chapter 11 of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002).

it's so hard to control myself to only take 4oz of that heavenly cream cheese... hahaha

I HAVE eaten cream cheese alone too!

I am going to have to get it tomorrow! I just want to make sure I stick to 4oz...because I overdue things with cheese and nuts. crea,m cheese is another one I better be careful with!

Remember that all cheese is limited to 4 oz. So if you eat an ounce of cheddar, for example, then you have only 3 oz of cheese left for the day.

Also, many people do better eating less than 4 oz.

i was using the premise of mutliplying fat grams by 9 to get calories from fat of foods--- however i am pretty sure if you ate just fat the weight loss would be tremendous regardless is you ate even 2000 calories a day but continued to limit sugars/carbs
