  • Question about Flaxseed on Induction

If flaxseed is 8 grams of carbs and 8 grams of fiber, wouldn't it be zero net carbs, thus a free food? I have been on induction for 4 days and haven't lost anything, but I have been eating the flaxseed muffins for breakfast. The muffins are flaxseed, eggs, baking powder, splenda, cinnamon, vanilla and a little water.

Re: Question about Flaxseed on Induction

there are no free foods on Atkins. We eat legal foods to satisfy our hunger.
Flax is permitted during induction for constipation curing and prevention. However flax is a soluble fiber and will hold a lot of fluid weight as it moves from your mouth to your rearend so if you are eating them consistantly for breakfast you will always have some flax weight inside you.

keep working your atkins both the eating and the mandatory exercise part. Check your measurements so you can see the inches of body fat being shed even when the scales refuse to validate your hard work.

You may want to post your menu and let the experts check it out. Sometimes we don't see what others might.

        >>If flaxseed is 8 grams of carbs and 8 grams of fiber,>>

        That's rounding.

If you use the USDA, you'll find that 1/4 cup flax meal is 8.09 total carbs and 7.6 fiber.

Re: Question about Flaxseed on Induction

J is correct, one tablespoon of ground flax (linseeds) has about 1/8th of one net gram.
Insignificant if you are only eating the induction-suggested amount of one tablespoon but if like some posts I have seen on lowcarb boards you were eating flax pancakes, a muffin in a minute plus some flax bread each day the 1/8ths would quickly add up.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thanks for your responses. I guess I won't eat anymore muffins until after induction..just to be on the safe side.
