  • Want to look at my food journal?

    http://fitday.com/fitness/PublicJournals.html?Owner=FormerVeggie

I really need to be more careful, lots of low-carb foods can add up to 20 grams!

Now if I can just be done with gum! My husband and I have quit the nicotine gum which we have been chewing for 2 1/2 years! Now we're doing Xylitol gum.

You should be counting net carbs, not total carbs. You calculate net carbs by deducting fiber from the total grams of carbohydrate.

"Strips" is not exactly the best way to measure the quantity of peppers you had. It might not matter during Induction, but it will become important in OWL.

How many grams or ounces is a "thin" slice of salami?

Sweeteners are limited to 3 servings per day. Each piece of chewing gum counts as one serving.

As Ben wrote, your calories are way too low. If yesterday was just an "odd" day and you usually eat more, then nothing to really worry about. But if that's what you typically eat, then what will happen is that you will be slowing down your metabolism and not giving your body all the nutrition it needs.

I am really surprised to see so few calories....Today was a heavy veggie day so it will be interesting to see what tomorrow turns up. Thanks for your input, I wasn't even looking at calories. Weird how I can have so much fat and so few calories!

Georgiana- I am really trying to get off the gum, it's so hard! The gum I chew is Spry which is teeny pieces that only have .72 g of Xylitol. I just looked at a packet of Stevia and its serving size is 2 grams..... Can't I count the gum as 1/2 of a serving? Please?

My stevia packets are 1 g each and almost 1 g of that is dietary fiber.

You "can", but it would not be correct. A serving is a serving is a serving, regardless of the net carbs in the product.

I am really trying to get off the gum

If you were really trying to get off the gum, then you would not try to convince yourself that 6 pieces is only three servings, hence "okay" to have.

If you are not able to quit cold turkey, then have only 5 pieces for a couple of days, then 4... then 3... and so on. You could also use only half a piece at a time.

By the way, I missed something in my first reply... It's more accurate to measure vegetables raw and enter them raw in FitDay.
